Answer:

Matilda eats Cereal on Monday.

Step-by-step explanation:

Breakfast options for Matilda are: Cereal (C), Bread (B) or Yogurt (Y).

<u>Condition 1:</u> If she eats cereal and bread she also eats yogurt.

                     Then Matilda's breakfast combination is: C + B + Y.

<u>Condition 2:</u> If she eats bread or yogurt, she also eats cereal.

                     Then Matilda's breakfast combination is: C + B or C + Y.

<u>Condition 3:</u> She never eats both cereal and yogurt.

                   Then Matilda's breakfast combination does not include is: C + Y.

<u>Condition 4:</u> She always eats bread or cereal.

                  Then Matilda's breakfast combination always includes is: C or B.

If Matilda eats bread (B) then according to Condition 2 she eats cereal (C) also. And since she eats both C and B she eats yogurt (Y) also.

But according to Condition 3 Matilda never eats both cereal and yogurt.

Hence she can never have all three for breakfast.

She cannot eat bread (B) alone [according to Condition 2], Matilda is left with only one option, i.e. Cereal (C).

Thus, Matilda eats Cereal for breakfast on Monday.

Superman needs to save Lois from the clutches of Lex Luther. After flying for 15 seconds, he is 2100 meters from her. Then at 18
posledela

Part A

x = time in seconds that have gone by

y = distance in meters Superman is away from Lois

"After flying for 15 seconds, he is 2100 meters from her" means we have the point (x,y) = (15, 2100)

"at 18 seconds he is 1980 meters from her" tells us we have a second point (x,y) = (18,1980)

--------

Find the slope of the line through these two points

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m = (1980-2100)/(18-15)

m = (-120)/(3)

m = -40

The slope is -40 which means Superman is getting 40 meters closer each second. I.e, the distance is dropping 40 meters per second

--------

Use one of the points and the slope to find the y intercept b

y = mx+b

2100 = (-40)*15 + b

2100 = -600 + b

2100+600 = b

b = 2700

This is the starting distance Superman is away from Lois

--------

Since m = -40 and b = 2700, we know the y = mx+b equation becomes y = -40x+2700.

Replace x with s, replace y with m. We now have m = -40s+2700

---------

<h3>Final Answer:  m = -40s+2700</h3>

============================================

Part B

Plug s = 6 into the equation we found for part A. Then simplify.

m = -40s+2700

m = -40*6+2700

m = -240+2700

m = 2460

---------

<h3>Final Answer: 2460 meters</h3>

Let g(x) = 2x2 - 11x. Find g(-1).<br> A) -13 Eliminate <br> B) -9 <br> C) 0 <br> D) 13
worty [1.4K]

Solution

g(x) = 2x^{2} - 11x

Plugging in x = -1 in g(x), we get

g(-1) = 2(-1)^{2} - 11(-1)

Now we have to simplify it.

g(-1) = 2*1 + 11

g(-1) = 2 + 11

g(-1) = 13

So the answer is D) 13.

Cole rode his bike twice as far as Anita did today. Is this situation modeled by an expression or equation? How do you know?
Over [174]

Answer:

equation

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X is the distance that Anita rode

Let Y is the distance that Cole rode

Cole rode his bike twice as far as Anita, which mean:

What is the period of the graph of y = 5 sin (pi x) + 3?
Natasha2012 [34]

Equate whats inside (arguments) \sin with base period of sine function 2\pi and solve for x to get period,

\pi x=2\pi\implies x=2

So the period of the graph of the given function is precisely 2.

Hope this helps :)
