Answer:

The weight of large box = 13.75 kilograms

the weight of small box = 6.5 kilograms

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

delivery of 2 large boxes and 3 small boxes has a total weight of 47 kilograms

delivery of 6 large boxes and 5 small boxes has a total weight of 115 kilograms.

Let x be the weight of large box

and y be the weight of small box

Make equation from the given information

2(weight of large box) + 3(weight of small box) = 47

2x + 3y = 47 -----------> equation 1

Do the same and make one more equation

6x + 5y = 115-----------> equation 2

Now we solve both equation using elimination method

Multiply the first equation by 3

6x + 9y = 141

6x + 5y = 115  (subtract both equations)

----------------------------------------------------

      4y = 26

divide both sides by 4

So y= 6.5

Now plug in 6.5 for y  and find out x

2x+3y = 47

2x + 3(6.5) = 47

2x + 19.5 = 47  (subtract 19.5 on both sides)

2x = 27.5

divide both sides by 2

x = 13.75

The weight of large box = 13.75 kilograms

the weight of small box = 6.5 kilograms

Please help. Find the product or quotient in simplified form. Explain how to multiply and divide fractions.
miskamm [114]
<span>5 1/6 x 1/3
</span>first convert 5 1/6 (which is a mixed fraction) into an improper fraction ...
=> 6*5+1/6 = 31/6
=>now we have ... 31/6 * 1/3
=> to multiply fractions we multiply the numerators ( top numbers ) with each other and the denominators (bottom numbers ) also the same way ...
=> 31/6 * 1/3 => 31*1 / 6*3 => 31/18
=> then divide them to get answer as mixed fraction ..
=> 1 13/18  ..

<span>3 1/2 / 1 1/3
</span>=> here also first convert 3 1/2 and 1 1/3 into improper fractions ..
=> 3 1/2 => 2*3+1/2 => 7/2
=> 1 1/3 => 3*1+1/3=> 4/3
=> now divide them ..
=> 7/2/4/3
=> for dividing fractions we take the reciprocal of one fraction and then multiply ..
=> 7/2 * 3/4
=> now multiply these two fractions ..
=> 7*3/2*4 => 21/8
=> answer as mixed fraction = 2 5/8 ...

Hope it helps !!!

The sum of the measures of two of the angles formed by the intersection of two lines is 114°. Find the measures of all angles. I
JulijaS [17]

Answer:

Measures of all angles are 57°, 57°, 123°, 123°

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Sum of two angles = 114°

Find:

Measures of all angles

Computation:

Sum of all 4 angles = 360°

Sum of remain 2 angles = 360° - 114°

Sum of remain 2 angles = 246°

So, first two angles = 114° / 2 = 57°

Second two angles = 246° / 2 = 123°

So, measures of all angles are 57°, 57°, 123°, 123°

How many minutes is it from 8:00am to 11:40am?
ollegr [7]

Answer:

220 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Find how many hours there are between the two times which is 3 hours then multiply 3 by 60 because there are 60 minutes in an hour

Since the time is 11:40 we also know 40 minutes have passed so add the two minutes

40+180=220

Complete the work to solve for y:<br><br> What is the value for y?
ollegr [7]

Answer:

The value of y = 11/2

Step-by-step explanation:

As the work is completed up to the point

\frac{11}{5}=\frac{2}{5}y

Now completing the remaining work

\frac{11}{5}=\frac{2}{5}y

Dividing both sides by 2/5

\frac{11}{5}\div \frac{2}{5}=\frac{2}{5}y\div \frac{2}{5}

\frac{2}{5}\cdot \frac{5y}{2}=\frac{\frac{11}{5}}{\frac{2}{5}}            ∵ \mathrm{Apply\:the\:fraction\:rule}:\quad \frac{a}{\frac{b}{c}}=\frac{a\cdot \:c}{b}

\frac{2y\cdot \:5}{5\cdot \:2}=\frac{\frac{11}{5}}{\frac{2}{5}}              ∵ \mathrm{Multiply\:fractions}:\quad \frac{a}{b}\cdot \frac{c}{d}=\frac{a\:\cdot \:c}{b\:\cdot \:d}

\frac{y\cdot \:5}{5}=\frac{\frac{11}{5}}{\frac{2}{5}}                ∵ \mathrm{Cancel\:the\:common\:factor:}\:2

y=\frac{\frac{11}{5}}{\frac{2}{5}}                   ∵ \mathrm{Cancel\:the\:common\:factor:}\:5

y=\frac{11\cdot \:5}{5\cdot \:2}                 ∵  \mathrm{Divide\:fractions}:\quad \frac{\frac{a}{b}}{\frac{c}{d}}=\frac{a\cdot \:d}{b\cdot \:c}

y=\frac{11}{2}                    ∵ \mathrm{Cancel\:the\:common\:factor:}\:5

Therefore, the value of y = 11/2
