In the largest clinical trial ever conducted, 401,974 children were randomly assigned to two groups. The treatment group consis

ted of 201,229 children given the Salk vaccine for polio, and the other 200,745 children were given a placebo. Among those in the treatment group, 33 developed polio, and among those in the placebo group, 115 developed polio. If we want to use the methods for testing a claim about two population proportions to test the claim that the rate of polio is less for children given the Salk vaccine, are the requirements for a hypothesis test satisfied? Explain.

Answer:

The requirements for the hypothesis test does satisfied the method for testing the claim that from two population proportions the rate of polio is less for children given the salk vaccine.

Step-by-step explanation:

The percentage of children in the treatment group was:

(201229/401974)*100 = 49.9%

The percentage of children given placebo was:

(200745/401974)*100 = 50.1%

The percentage of children that developed polio in the treatment group:

(33/200745)*100 = 0.0164%

The percentage of children that developed polio in the placebo group:

(115/201229)*100 = 0.0571%

The percentage difference between the two group:

((0.0571-0.0164)/0.0571) = 61.62%

Therefore:

The amount of children used for each group was almost divided into half of the total amount of children. The test revealed although very small percentages of the both group developed polio, 68.62% more children given placebo than the children that was given the salk vaccine. Therefore, the study shows that the rate of polio is less for children given the salk vaccine and the the hypthesis test is satisfied.

Answer:

f(9) = 72

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a piecewise function. You have to establish what part to plug in your x value based on the designations given in the function. In this case, x=9.

9>6, so we would follow the bottom designation! When writing the function, turn every "x" into a 9.

f(x) = 8x

f(9) = 8(9)

f(9) = 72

Hope this helps you out :)!

A set of data items is normally distributed with a mean of 240 and a standard deviation of 32. Convert 272 to a? z-score
dem82 [27]

Answer:

z-score = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Mean= μ=240

SD= σ=32

In order to find the z-score of a value, the mean is subtracted from the value and then divided by standard deviation.

The formula for z-score is:

z-score=(x-μ)/σ

Here x is the value whose z-score is to be found.

In the given question, x = 272

So,

z-score=(272-240)/32

=32/32

=1

So , the z-score for 272 is 1..

What is the volume of this prism? <br> A. 23.9 ^3<br> B. 47.7 cm^3<br> C. 4.50 cm^3<br> D. 9.00 cm^3
melisa1 [442]

Answer: A) 23.9

Step-by-step explanation:

volume of a shape means the area of its base multiplied by its height

so , the base here is a right angle triangle it's area equals 1/2*b*h = 1/2*3*6=9 m² and the prism height is 2.65.

therefore the volume is 2.65*9
