2|x-6|+14=38
\rightarrow2|x-6|=24
\rightarrow|x-6|=12

There are two cases:
1. x-6=12\rightarrow x=18
2. x-6=-12\rightarrow x=-6

So the minimum temperature is -6, and the maximum is 18.

(Minimum)
-2(x-6)=24
-2x+12=24
-2x=12
-x=6
x=-6

(Maximum)
2(x-6) = 24
2x-12=24
2x=36
x=18

Minimum= -6

Maximum= 18

A mother is 24 years older than her daughter.Before eight years she was seven times her daughter's age.Find their present ages
Ne4ueva [31]

Answer:

Mother's Present Age = 36 years

Daughter's Present Age = 12 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let present age of mother be "m" and present age of daughter be "d"

Mother is 24 years older than her daughter, so we can write:

m = 24 + d

8 years ago, Mother was 7 times old as daughter, that would be:

m - 8 = 7(d - 8)

Note, since 8 years ago, both "m" and "d" have 8 subtracted from it.

Now we substitute Equation 1 into Equation 2 and solve for d:

m - 8 = 7(d - 8)\\24+d - 8 = 7(d - 8)\\16+d=7d-56\\6d=72\\d=\frac{72}{6}\\d=12

Mother age, m, would be:

m = 24 + d

m = 24 + 12

m = 36

Hence,

Mother's Present Age = 36 years

Daughter's Present Age = 12 years

yan [13]

Answer:

Mean = 10.2

Standard deviation = 4.0

Step-by-step explanation:

The average age = mean age

Mean = (16 + 10 + 5 + 7 + 13)/5

Mean = 51/5 = 10.2

What is the standard deviation will be square root of variance

(16 - 10.2) + (10 -10.2) + (5-10.2) + (7-10.2)+( 13-10.2)

5.8 + 0.2 -5.2 - 3.2 + 2.8

Square each number

33.64 + 0.04 + 27.04 + 10.24 + 7.84

Variance = 78.8/5 = 15.76

Standard deviation = 3.969 = 4.0

Determine the coordinates of the vertex and horizontal intercepts of the parabola. (If an answer does not exist, enter DNE.)
kogti [31]
<span>f(x) = −7(x + 12)² + 14</span>
 the coordinates of the vertex are (-12;14)
  f(x)=-7(x²+24x-144)+14
f(x)=-7x²-168x+1008+14
f(x)=-7x²-168x+1022=0
7x²+168x-1022=0
x=\frac{-168+- \sqrt{ 168^{2} +4*7*1022} }{14}=\frac{-168+- \sqrt{56840} }{14}=\frac{-168+-14 \sqrt{290} }{14}=-12+-√290
x₁=-12-√290
x₂=-12+√290
Answer: the coordinates of the vertex are (-12;14),
horizontal intercepts are x₁=-12-√290, x₂=-12+√290

Find the degree measures of angles labeled a-g
Dominik [7]
A is supplementary to the 35 degree angle; therefore ...
a= 145.
b is vertical to the 35 degree angle, so ...
b = 35.
c is vertical to a, so ...
c = 35.
d is a corresponding angle to a, so ...
d = 145.
e corresponds to the given 35 degree angle, so ...
e = 35.
Finally g corresponds with b, and f corresponds with c, so ...
g =35,
f = 35.
