y = 2x^2 - 12x + 46

Compare your equation with the standard form of the equation:

y = ax^2 + bx + c

For your equation, a = 2, b = -12, c = 46.

The vertex has x-coordinate -b/(2a).

The x-coordinate of the vertex is: -(-12)/(2 * 2) = 12/4 = 3

Now we plug in x = 3 into the function to find the y-coordinate of the vertex.

y = 2(3^2) - 12(3) + 46

y = 2(9) - 36 + 46

y = 18 - 36 + 46

y = 28

The vertex is (3, 28)

A tree casts a shadow of 3 meters, while a meter stick casts a shadow of 0.75 meters. How tall is the tree?
Lunna [17]
3.75 meters I would presume.

Explanation: since a single meter casts a shadow of 0.75 meters that means for each meter, 0.25 meters are missing. So I added 0.75 to three, because there was 3 meters and 3 time 0.25 was 0.75 .

\frac{8 -  \sqrt{ - 36} }{2}  \\  =  \frac{8 -  \sqrt{ 2 \times \: 2 \times  3  \times  - 3} }{2}  \\  =  \frac{8 -2 \sqrt{ - 9}  }{2}  \\  =  \frac{2(4 -  \sqrt{ - 9} )}{2}  \\  = 4 -  \sqrt{ - 9}

Hope you could get an idea from here.

Find the slope<br>15) (7,5), (13, 11) <br>A) -5 <br>B) 5<br>C) -1 <br>D) 1
Finger [1]

Answer:

1

Step-by-step explanation:

when finding slope you use the formula

y2-y1 so you do 11 minus 5 which gets

____ you 6, over 13 minus 7 which

x2-x1 also gets you 6! So 6/6=1 which

means the slope should be 1. again im sorry if im wrong but I hope I could help TT
