If the rectangles are similar, then all of their linear dimensions
have the same ratio ... length, width, perimeter, diagonal, etc.,
For these two rectangles, anything in the bigger one that you can
measure with a ruler is 3 times as long as the same measurement
in the smaller one.

Their areas will have the square of that ratio. For these two rectangles,
the area of the bigger one is (3²) = 9 times the area of the smaller one.

Find three mixed numbers so that the sum is 18 and the difference between the greatest number and least number is 5 1/5
Zigmanuir [339]
Suppose y=0. That means
x+z = 18
x-z = 26/5

x = 58/5
z = 32/5

So, the largest x can be is 58/5
Now, suppose we toss in y. If we subtract y/2 from both x and z, then the difference between x and z is still 26/5, and the sum is

(x-y/2) + y + (z-y/2) = x+z = 18

For example, if y = 4,

x = 48/5
y = 20/5
z = 22/5

x-z is still 26/5, and the sum is still 18.

There were three parts to Rita's race. She ran the first part, which was 4/9
IrinaVladis [17]

Answer:

300 meters per minute

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1

Determine the fraction of the total distance for each part of the race.

Given:

1st part of race = 4/9 of total distance

2nd part of race = 2/5 of remaining distance

Step 2

Determine the distance of the third part of the race.

Given:

time = 15 minutes

speed = 300 meters per minute

Step 3

If the third part of the race (which is 1/3 of the total distance) is 4500m, then the distance of the whole race is:

Step 4

Determine the distance of the 1st part of the race:

Step 5

Determine the speed of the 1st part of the race:

Given:

time = 20 minutes

distance = 6000 m
