The Gold Rush brought more people out west. They were excited to get rich! Disappointedly, they learned that it took hard work- that few people were willing to do. The sudden boom of people affected the population greatly, and in a good way, too! Many people were settling down in the west, which led to the growth of California. I hope this answers your question! :)

Theravada Buddhism's Sangha, or monastic community, has never opposed governmental authority.

What is community ?

A community is a social group of individuals who share a common characteristic, such as a common government, location, culture, or heritage.

All Buddhists place a high priority on preserving and advancing the Buddha's unadulterated teachings, which are the root of all happiness.

Making an offering to the sangha is a crucial step in preserving and cherishing these teachings, which are traditionally kept by the sangha. Offering to a sangha community has benefits that endure as long as the sangha community does.
