Answer:

Mark has 12 quarters

Step-by-step explanation:

I did all of it, nickles, dimes, and of course, quarters..

So, Let +n+ = the number of nickels he has

Let +d+ = the number of dimes he has

Let +q+ = the number of quarters he has

given:

(1) +q+=+2n+

(2) +d+=+n+%2B+3+

(3) +5n+%2B+10d+%2B+25q+=+420+

( the units for this equation is cents , for instance,

$4.20 is 420 cents

All you have to do is substitute (1) and (2) into (3)

so that the only variable is +n+, then solve

(3) +5n+%2B+10%2A%28+n+%2B+3+%29+%2B+25%2A%282n%29+=+420+

(3) +5n+%2B+10n+%2B+30+%2B+50n+=+420+

(3) +65n+%2B+30+=+420+

Subtract +30+ from both sides

(3) +65n+=+390+

(3) +n+=+6+

And since

(2) +d+=+n+%2B+3+

(2) +d+=+6+%2B+3+

(2) +d+=+9+

Also, since

(1) +q+=+2n+

(1) +q+=+2%2A6+

(1) +q+=+12+

: Mark has 6 nickels, 9 dimes, and 12 quarters

In The autumn 40% of the leaves on a tree are yellow and 24% of them are green the remaining 72 leaves are half yellow how many
Charra [1.4K]

Percentage of yellow leaves on a tree during Autumn = 40%

Percentage of green leaves on a tree during Autumn = 24%

Percentage of half yellow leaves on the tree during Autumn :

=  \tt100 - 40 + 24

= \tt 100 - 64

= \tt 36 \%Thus, the percentage of half yellow leaves on the tree during Autumn = 36%

Number of half yellow leaves on the tree = 36%

Let the total number of leaves on the tree be x.

Which means :

=  \tt36 \% \: of \: x = 72

=  \tt \frac{36}{100}  \times x = 72

=  \tt \frac{36 \times x}{100}  = 72

=  \tt \frac{36x}{100}  = 72

= \tt 36x = 72 \times 100

=  \tt36x = 7200

= \tt x =  \frac{7200}{36}

\color{plum} =  \tt \: x = 200

Thus, total number of leaves on the tree = 200

Number of yellow leaves on the tree :

=  \tt40 \% \: \:  of \: \:  200

=  \tt \frac{40}{100}  \times 200

= \tt   \frac{40 \times 200}{100}

= \tt  \frac{8000}{100}

\color{plum}  \tt = 80 \: yellow \:  \: leaves

Thus, total number of yellow leaves on the tree = 80

Number of green trees on the tree :

=  \tt24 \% \:  \: of \:  \: 200

= \tt  \frac{24}{100} \times 200

= \tt  \frac{24 \times 200}{100}

=  \tt \frac{4800}{100}

\color{plum} = \tt 48 \: green \:  \: leaves

Thus, the total number of green leaves on the tree = 48

Since the sum of all types of leaves form 200[80+48+72=200], we can conclude that we have found out the correct number of each type of leaf.

▪︎Therefore, <em>the total number of leaves on the tree = 200</em>

Eight inches of snow fell in five hours. Write the number of inches per hour.
DedPeter [7]

The answer is 1.6

How I figured it out:

I divided 8 by 5, which gave me 1.6

To make sure this was right, I multiplied 1.6 by 5, which gave me an answer of 8 or other known as 8 inches.

In conclusion, the number of inces per hour is 1.6

How can i solve for y in this problem? 2x-y=3
pshichka [43]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

y = 2x - 3

Discussion:

2x - y = 3  =>                  add "y" to both sides

2x - y + y = 3 + y =>        as -y+y = 0

2x = 3 + y    =>                subtract 3 from each side of the equation

2x-3 = y

Thank you,

MrB

6 (3x-1)-10x. with work please :)
STatiana [176]
Hey there!
Let's break this expression into two parts:
6(3x-1) and -10x

To solve the first part, we need to use the distributive property which states:
a(b+c) = ab+ac

Applying that to this problem, we have:
6(3x) + 6(-1) =
18x - 6

Now, we can take that -10x and put it right back in:

18x - 6 - 10x

Combine like terms and subtract the 10x from the 18x to get:
8x - 6

Hope this helps!
