Solutions

To solve this problem we have to use the Pythagorean theorem. You can only use the Pythagorean theorem in Right Triangles. The longest side of the triangle is called the "hypotenuse". C² is the longest side so it is the hypotenuse . To calculate c² we have to do α² + β² = c².

Given

Side (A) = 10 in
Side (B) = 8 in
Side (C) = unknown

The length of the third side must be greater than 0 but less than 18in

10-8 < s < 10+8

2 < s < 18

17 in is the correct answer

Find an expression for the nth term ( tn ) in each of the following sequences:
Alexandra [31]

Answer:

The expression for the nth term is Tn = 8n -7

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we are to find an expression for the nth term of the sequence.

Mathematically, the nth term of an arithmetic sequence can be expressed as;

Tn = a + (n-1)d

for T2, the equation is

a + d = 9

for T4, the equation is

a + 3d = 25

we can substitute the equation of T2 into T4 but we first need to rewrite T4

a + d + 2d = 25

9 + 2d = 25

2d = 25 -9

2d = 16

d = 16/2

d = 8

now since a + d = 9

a = 9-d

a = 9-8

a = 1

So the expression for the nth term would be;

1 + (n-1)8

1 + 8n - 8

= 8n -8+1

= 8n -7

How to turn a mixer number to a improper fraction
chubhunter [2.5K]
For example, a mix number like 1 ½ basically equals to a whole and a half and in this case the whole would be 2 and the half of 2 is 1. hence, the improper fraction of 1 ½ is 3/2.
