The regular rules of arithmetic apply to function values. Addition and multiplication are commutative, but subtraction and division are not.

The ring operator, signifying a function of a function, is not commutative, either. A simple example can illustrate this:
   f(x) = 3
   g(x) = x²
   (f◦g)(x) = f(g(x)) = f(x²) = 3
   (g◦f)(x) = g(f(x)) = g(3) = 3² = 9 . . . . . not equal to 3

The only appropriate choice for Question 19 is ...
   A. (f+g)(x) = (g+f)(x)

Sec x tan x(1-sin^2x)=sinx <br> is this equation a trigonometric identity?
aleksklad [387]
\bf tan(\theta)=\cfrac{sin(\theta)}{cos(\theta)}\qquad sec(\theta)=\cfrac{1}{cos(\theta)}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;sin^2(\theta)+cos^2(\theta)=1\implies cos^2(\theta)=1-sin^2(\theta)\\\\&#10;-------------------------------\\\\&#10;%sec x tan x(1-sin^2x)=sinx&#10;sec(x)tan(x)[1-sin^2(x)]=sin(x)\\\\&#10;-------------------------------\\\\&#10;sec(x)tan(x)[1-sin^2(x)]\implies \cfrac{1}{\underline{cos(x)}}\cdot \cfrac{sin(x)}{\underline{cos(x)}}\cdot \underline{cos^2(x)}\implies sin(x)

There are two less nickels than dimes, and as many quarters, as nickels and dimes together. The total amount of money is $5.25.
eduard
There are 7 nickels, 9 dimes, and 16 quarters. If you do the math 7 nickels equals 35 cents, 9 dimes equal 90 cents, and 16 quarters equals $4.00, which all adds up to $5.25. Also the numbers follow the rules because 7 is two less than nine and 16 is 9+7.
