The oceans, lower atmosphere, and continents are parts of the biosphere.

The biosphere is composed of the parts of planet Earth where life exists and it is the total of all the ecosystems. The biosphere along with lithosphere (rock), hydrosphere (water) and atmosphere (air) are the four layers that surround the earth. The biosphere covers a wide area from the deepest root systems of trees, to rainforest, to the ocean depth and high mountaintops. The biosphere contains living organisms and nonliving things from which they obtain energy and nutrients.

Since there are no genes coding for carbohydrates and lipids, how do cells produce them?
lina2011 [118]
<span>Cell code for enzymes that can convert other molecules into carbohydrates, nucleic acids and lipids. Humans can synthesize 11 out of the 20 amino acids and bacteria can synthesize all 20. Plus bacteria can synthesize many of the vitamins that humans cannot, including vitamin C. As far as humans are concerned, we can make carbohydrates and glycogen from glucose. We use some amino acids to make nucleic acids and we can synthesize lipids and cholesterol from acetyl coA. There are certain types of fatty acids we can't synthesize and we must get them from our diet.</span>

marta [7]

Complete question:

In Drosophila, red eyes is wild-type and purple eyes are mutant. Full-size wings are wild-type and vestigial wings are mutant. Flies with wild-type pr pr vg vg genotypes were crossed with double mutant flies with a pr-pr- vg-vg- genotypes. The F1 flies had pr pr- vg vg- genotypes. The F1 flies with heterozygous genotypes were crossed with double mutant flies with a pr-pr- vg-vg- genotypes One thousand offspring were typed. This cross produced 430 red-eye, wild-type wing flies, 65 purple-eye wild-type wing flies, 60 red-eye, vestigial wing flies, and 445 purple-eye, vestigial wing flies. What is the distance between the loci for purple eyes and vestigial wings in centiMorgans (map units)

Answer:

Distance between genes → 12.5 MU = 12.5 cM.
