The product of three and a number (3n) is 12 more than (=12 +) the sum of the number and 26 (n + 26). Put all of those together.

2n = 12 + n + 26     Combine like terms.  (12 + 26)
2n = 28 + n             Subtract to get the variables together. (2n - n)
n = 28

n200080 [17]

I hope I am reading the problem right: The price of a mountain bike increased by 20% in the past year. The value is $150. What was the value of the mountain bike last year?

Let's simplify this. One year, there was this radical mountain bike that used to have an unsaid price, x. That year, that price of x increased by 20% more than it was before, or 120% times the original value. Because of that, it's now $150.

We can equation this.

1.20x = 150

x = 150/1.2

x = 125

The bike, I believe, cost $125 last year. Hope this helps!

What is the probability that a point chosen at random in the given figure will be inside the larger square and outside the small
liraira [26]

Answer:

  • 51/100

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability that a point chosen at random in the given figure will be inside the larger square and outside the smaller square is equal to the ratio of the area of interest to the total area:

P(inside larger square and outside smaller square) = area of interest / total area

P(inside larger square and outside smaller square) = area inside the larger square and outside the smaller square / area of the larger square

Calculations:

1. Area inside the larger square: side² = (10 cm)² = 100 cm²

2. Area inside the smaller square = side² = (7cm)² = 49 cm²

3. Area inside the larger square and outside the smaller square

  • 100 cm² - 49 cm² = 51 cm²

4. P (inside larger square and outside smaller squere)

  • 51 cm² / 100 cm² = 51/100

Manuela is having mugs made for a fundraiser. The Cup Company will make them for $4 each plus a $30 set-up charge. Mugs Are Us w
amm1812

Answer:

The price will be the same for both companies at 60 mugs

Step-by-step explanation:

The form of the linear equation is y = m x + b, where

  • m is the rate of change
  • b is the fixed amount

Assume that the number of mugs is x and the total cost of them is $y

∵ The Cup Company will make them for $4 each plus a $30

   set-up charge

∴ The cost per mug = $4

∴ m = 4

∴ The fixed amount = $30

∴ b = 30

∵ x is the number of mugs

∵ y is the cost of them

→ Substitute the values of m and b in the form of the equation

∴ y = 4x + 30 ⇒ (1)

∵ Mugs Are Us will make them for $4.50 each with no set-up charge

∴ The cost per mug = $4.50

∴ m = 4.5

∴ The fixed amount = 0

∴ b = 0

∵ x is the number of mugs

∵ y is the cost of them

→ Substitute the values of m and b in the form of the equation

∴ y = 4.5x + 0

∴ y= 4.5x ⇒ (2)

∵ The price be the same for both companies

→ Equate the right sides of (1) and (2)

∴ 4.5x = 4x + 30

→ Subtract 4x from both sides

∵ 4.5x - 4x = 4x - 4x + 30

∴ 0.5x = 30

→ Divide both sides by 0.5

∴ x = 60

∴ The price will be the same for both companies at 60 mugs
