Why doesn't a cube root have two answers

A cube root has THREE answers !

Unfortunately, two of them are 'complex' numbers, which involve
'imaginary' numbers', and those involve the square root of -1 .
In Middle School, you're not equipped to go there yet.

Just hang on for a few more years.  You'll learn all kinds of
beautiful things in math, more than you can imagine now.
You'll learn that whatever number the root is, there are
THAT many answers.

Like for example, if you want the 7th root of a number,
there are seven of them !

Write the equation for 5x + 2y = 3 in slope-intercept form.<br> 11
Nastasia [14]
5x+2y=3
-5x on both sides
2y=3-5x
divide by 2 on both sides
y=3/2-5/2x
rewrite in order (optional depending on teacher)
y=-5/2x+3/2

Annual income: The mean annual income for people in a certain city (in thousands of dollars) is 41, with a standard deviation of
USPshnik [31]

Answer:

By the Central Limit Theorem, the distribution of the sample means is approximately normal with mean 41 and standard deviation 2.92, in thousands of dollars.

Step-by-step explanation:

Central Limit Theorem

The Central Limit Theorem establishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

Mean of 41, standard deviation of 28:

This means that \mu = 41, \sigma = 28

Sample of 92:

This means that n = 92, s = \frac{28}{\sqrt{92}} = 2.92

Distribution of the sample means:

By the Central Limit Theorem, the distribution of the sample means is approximately normal with mean 41 and standard deviation 2.92, in thousands of dollars.
