26 ft 11 1/4 inches minus 26 ft 8 1/16 inch

 26-26 = 0

so you need to subtract the inches

so you have 11 1/4 = 8 1/16

11-8 = 3 inches

1/4 = 1/16  - find common denominator ( 16)

1/4 = 4/16, 4/16-1/16 = 3/16

the jump was 3 3/16 inches longer
