Well first off, you can easily eliminate choices C and D. They both include the term "<em><u>quotient</u></em>" in the choice, and the equation in the question in Multiplication.

Now you can look at the number of factors and terms. There are 2 factors in the equation. And, 2 terms in the parenthesis. The 2 terms in the parenthesis are being added together, so they are looking for the sum of the 2 terms.

So, with this information, we can conclude that A is the appropriate answer choice for this problem.

I hope this answers what you needed!

Product is Multiplication. There are 2 factors in the parenthesis. You are adding two terms also. So, the answer would be A.

A.) a product of 2 factors and a sum of 2 terms

Hope this helps :)

Need some help on this question???
JulijaS [17]

Answer: 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

PA=6, PD=4, BE=5

We know, If PEB is a secant that intersects the circle at E and B and PA be a tangent at A, then

PA^2=PE\cdot PB

Substitute the given values

\Rightarrow 6^2=(PE+BE)\cdot(PE)\\\Rightarrow 36=(PE+5)\cdot(PE)

Take PE=x

\Rightarrow 36=x^2+5x\\\Rightarrow x^2+5x-36=0\\\Rightarrow x^2+9x-5x-36=0\\\Rightarrow (x+9)(x-4)=0\\\Rightarrow x=-9,4

Discard x=-9

\therefore PE=4
