The main event described in the article is the attack on Pearl Harbor in the World War II. There were multiple causes which led to this event.

1. Americans wanted to stay neutral in the upcoming war, due to the atrocities of the World War I. "Americans remembered the horrors of World War I, which took place from 1914-1918. They hoped to stay out of the problems in Europe this time."

2. The Great Depression influenced the crisis in Europe, and brought Hitler and the Nazis into power. USA wanted to stay isolated from these events and keep their neutrality. "In the 1930s Americans were more worried about their own problems than problems in Europe".

3. In order to help the British, Roosevelt needed to change the legislation but still keep USA neutral. They decided to "lend" weapons and ammunition to their allies in order to help them fight Hitler. "The United States could simply lend Britain weapons to fight the war."

4. United States finally entered the World War II when Japanese attacked the US military ships on Perl Harbor. "Faced with an assault on its own forces, the United States finally entered the World War II."

Create two slogans relating to manifest destiny. One slogan should present a favorable viewpoint of the policy of manifest desti
viktelen [127]

(Favorable slogan) Virtue, mission, and destiny under God.

This slogan summarizes the three main points used by the advocates of the “Manifest Destiny” doctrine (virtue of the American people, a mission to change the “Old World” and the manifest destiny under God’s guidance). Considering the thesis of the “American exceptionality”, the country had the legitimacy to expand itself while spreading the values of freedom and democracy.

(Unfavorable slogan) Don’t plant in America’s soil the seed of imperialism! Say no to the right of conquest!

Many were critic with the “Manifest Destiny” doctrine and considered it to be belligerent and contrary to the Republican values. It constituted a call for aggression which was, according to their point of view, a contradiction with the democratic founding values of the country.

What is the Iliad about?
saul85 [17]

Answer:

Iliad is about revenge, war and forgiveness.

Explanation:

Iliad is a poem that is written by a Greek poet, Homer. The revenge is shown in many parts, along with the part where Achilles stops to fight in order to get revenge against Agamemnon. Achilles vowed that he will get revenge for the death of his best friend and brother, and he fought against his killer, Hector. Revenge is almost always accompanied by forgiveness. Eventually, Achilles got his revenge for his brother's death but it doesn't bring him peace and comfort. He sacrificed to the Gods the body of Hector and even after his death, he couldn't reach the inner peace he expected he would get and erase the pain that he felt. Hector's father, King Priam came to him and begged him for his dead son's body. At the end, Achilles felt sympathy because it was his fault that someone lost a son. When he gave Hector's body back, it brought him a piece of comfort. Through the whole book, Achilles was showing no mercy against anyone and he was removing anybody that got in his way. As it always happen, in the end, things turned around unexpectedly. He found peace within his enemy's forgiveness. This book is an important historical gem and every person can learn something from it. It doesn't matte how bitter, angry, disappointed we get, we never know where we will find our closure, peace and forgiveness.
