if you were a weathly victorian man or woman what advantages might an education in the classical curriculum provide?
GrogVix [38]

Until near the end of the Victorian Times wealth children would be educated at home. Boys on turning 10 would go to Public schools like Eton or Harrow, girls would remain studying at home with private tutors.

A classical education - which forms the basis of a liberal education -  in Victorian times meant to be prepared to occupy that rank of society to which persons destined for the services would usually belong, maintaining thus a sense of hierarchy and class order which means promises of privilege and ascendancy.

Therefore, a classical education for a wealthy man or woman would provide the tools for the maintenance of the status quo and for further ascension on society.

I agree because everyone struggles everyday. i doubt anyone wakes up everyday completely stress-free. we are all human in this sense, it is the human condition. when people are given the chance to make decisions with hardly any repercussions, they will not always do what is expected of them. it morally destroys empathy and modesty.

2. Greg gives humorous account of his ‘solution’ to the problem of existing in high school. Now look at it without the humor. Wh
Rom4ik [11]

Without the humor, we should be worried about Greg. This line tells us how bad he feels at school because of the simple fact of existing. Imagine how bad he must feel to look a solution for his existence. He probably feels as if he does not belong in there, like a freak kid that everyone makes fun of him. He can create depressive behaviours such as isolation, sadness, etc. that can lead him to, dramatically speaking, commit suicide. This is not a joke, he is probably having a mental illness because he does not feel comfortable with his life in high school.
