Hey there!~

I would say the best answer is Option B. With drafting you really shouldn't be trying your hardest... just kind of trying to get your ideas out. Once that's done you can start checking for mistakes. Kind of like how I did with this answer; I wrote it out, and then came back after I was finished and fixed all the imperfections.

Well to understand this better, let us determine what is most closely referred here about the clause “waiting for the wave”.

From reading the sentence we can see that since Jim was waiting for the wave he didn’t notice something was happening to him. So there is a connection between the clause and the verb. So this an adverb clause.
