Answer:

(A)The systolic pressure of a person of age 44 is 135.1 mm Hg

(B) If a person's systolic pressure is 133.36 mm Hg, their age is 41 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : P = 0.007 y² - 0.01 y +122

where P is systolic pressure and y is age of a person

(A) Here age of the person, y =44

So, P =0.007 (44²) -0.01 (44) +122 = 13.552 -0.44 +122 = 135.112 =135.1 mm

∴ The systolic pressure of a person of age 44 is 135.1 mm Hg

(B) Here P = 133.36 mm Hg

So,

133.36 = 0.007 y² - 0.01 y +122

=>0.007 y² -0.01 y -11.36 =0

=> 7 y² -10 y -11360 =0

Solving the above quadratic equation using quadratic formula, we have

y = \frac{5+\sqrt{79545} }{7}

or y = \frac{5-\sqrt{79545} }{7}

y = 41 or y = -39.57

Since age cannot be negative, y= 41

∴ If a person's systolic pressure is 133.36 mm Hg, their age is 41 years.

The designers of drink cartons must consider the length of the straw required so that it will reach the bottom
daser333 [38]

Answer:

<em>The length of the straw is 13.53 cm</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Rectangular Prism</u>

A rectangular prism or cuboid is a box-shaped object. It has six flat faces and all angles are right angles. And all of its faces are rectangles.

If the straw must reach into the diagonally opposite corners of the base of the carton, then its minimum length is calculated by:

d^2= a^2+b^2+c^2

Where a,b, and c are the dimensions of the cuboid. The image shows the dimensions of the drink carton: a=6 cm, b=10 cm, c=4 cm (order is not important), thus:

d^2= 6^2+10^2+4^2=36+100+16=152

d=\sqrt{152}

d= 12.33 cm

The straw must stick out of the carton by an additional 1.5 cm, thus the total length of the straw is: 12.33 + 1.5 = 13.53 cm

Use the following excerpt from your printable table of random numbers to
sergij07 [2.7K]

Answer: \dfrac{9}{10}

Step-by-step explanation:

From the table , the total number of numbers = 10

The group of 5 digits contain less than or equal to 2 even digits = 55170

i.e. The total group of 5 digits contain at least 2 =10-1=9

Now, the probability that a group of 5 random digits will contain at least 2

even digits is given by :-

=\dfrac{\text{Favorable outcomes}}{\text{Total outcomes}}=\dfrac{9}{10}

Hence, the probability that a group of 5 random digits will contain at least 2  even digits =\dfrac{9}{10}
