I’d start off by setting x, (x+12), and 100 to 180. They are are on a line and a line = 180 degrees.

So: 100+ x + (x+12) = 180
subtract 100 from both sides

x + x + 12 = 80
simplify by adding the two x’s equaling 2x +12= 80

subtract 12 from both sides giving you: 2x=68

divide by 2 and x = 34, (x+12) = 46

34+46+100= 180 degrees! meaning you now have your line :D hope this helps!

Answer:

x = 34

Step-by-step explanation:

Add together all three angles because together they equal 180 degrees

x + 12 + x + 100 = 180         Combine like terms

2x + 112 = 180

     - 112   - 112                   Subtract 112 from both sides

2x = 68                              Divide both sides by 2

x = 34

Is the ordered pair (-2, 1) a solution to the equation - 3x + y = 5?
No
Yes
Otrada [13]

Answer:

No

Step-by-step explanation:

Plug (-2,1) into -3x+y=5. This will make it -3(-2)+(1)=5. This is equal to 6+1=5. 7=5. 7 is not equal to 5. Therefore, (-2,1) is not a solution to the equation -3x+y=5.

14 What are the solutions to the equation 3(x − 4)² = 27?
Marat540 [252]

Answer:

(1) 1 and 7

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

We can solve by isolating the variable.

Solve

  • 3(x - 4)² = 27
  • (x - 4)² = 9
  • √(x - 4)² = √9
  • (x - 4) = ± 3
  • x = 4 ± 3

There are two solutions, 1 and 7.

The answer is option 1: x = 7, x = 1.
