D. Unique to that mineral. Each type of mineral has a chemical composition that is unique to that mineral.

Every mineral on the face of the Earth is different, otherwise, we'd call every substance a name solely based on color or shape. There are hundreds and thousands of different minerals in and on the Earth. Now, the way we separate these minerals so that we can keep track of them, is by checking their chemical composition. For instance, you could find two red rocks that look very similar to each other, and understandably, you could mistake this as the same mineral. However, if you were to check their chemical composition by any number of various tests, you would find that the two red rocks are actually different minerals. In this example they are any ways, you could very well find two red rocks that are the same mineral, but with out testing the chemical composition, there's no real way of knowing. The more tests you have with the mineral, the better understanding you'd have of that specific mineral to the point where you could classify it as the mineral it truly is. Because of this, we know that scientists classify minerals according to chemical composition, therefore, we now know that minerals all have chemical compositions unique to that specific mineral.

How do urea and mercaptoethanol effect ribonuclease?
Dima020 [189]

Mercaptoethanol is the chemical compound with the formula HOCH2CH2SH. ME , as it is commonly abbreviated, is used to reduce disulfide bonds and can act as a biological antioxidant by scavenging hydroxyl radicals (amongst others). It is widely used because the hydroxyl group confers solubility in water and lowers the volatility. Due to its diminished vapor pressure, its odor, while unpleasant, is less objectionable than related thiols.

Engage/Daily Bellringer - The graph provided shows the population of an organism
lubasha [3.4K]

Answer:

carrying capacity

Explanation:

The leveling off is an indication of the carrying capacity of the environment.

By definition, the carrying capacity of an environment is the total number of organism of particular species that an environment can support given the resources it has.

When a particular species of organism is introduced into a new environment, it first of all spend some time trying to adjust to this new environment and this time is characterized by little population growth.

After successfully adjusting and getting acclimatized to the new environment, the population of the organism experiences a sharp rise and then levels off as the maximum population size the environment can support based on the resources it has is reached. This jund of population growth is referred to as logistic growth.

The population of the organism fluctuates a little bit around the carrying capacity based on several factors, especially competition for resources.
