The stages of moral development in which morality is defined egotistically are called the pre-conventional stages.

Explanation:

The Pre-conventional level of Kohlberg's moral development is divided into two stages – obedience and punishment orientation and instrumental orientation. Both these orientations are egotistic.

The obedience and punishment orientation states that a child will obey a rule to avoid any punishment and thinks it is bad to do something which will fetch a punishment. This is due to egocentric deference to satisfy self-desire and to a superior power.

The instrumental orientation is naively egotistic exhibiting egalitarianism and focuses on only self. The pre-conventional stage is marked by egotism and hedonism.
