From early childhood, Charlemagne was raised in the Christian spirit and was a very religious man.

Explanation:

 • From early childhood, Charlemagne was raised in the Christian spirit and was a very religious man.
 • His great devotion was also one of the reasons he initiated the construction of the Basilica at Aachen.
 • He also worried about the rites being performed in the right way, so he often warned churchgoers to be careful not to bring anything inappropriate into the church. He greatly worshiped the church of St. Peter in Rome, and with many gifts he showered the pope.
 • He wanted Rome to be restored to its old reputation and splendor, and that the church of St. Peter is richer and nicer than everyone else.
 • After some turmoil over the way of life of Pope Leo III, Charlemagne intervened in these conflicts, and in 799 A.D. he went to Rome to reassert the position of the Church.

Question 10
Alenkasestr [34]

Answer:

А . They take on very little risk in starting a business due to government control.

Explanation:

Entrepreneurs are people who start individual businesses based on the existing economy, with the idea to gain profit. These businesses are usually innovative and creative, and the entrepreneurs are deciding themselves on the resources, projects, processes, and products of the business.

The businesses that entrepreneurs take on are not government-supported. They usually fund the project themselves (or crowdfunding in some instances), which means they take quite a bit of risk. At the start of business development, there is no guarantee the business will take on and succeed, and that they will end up making a profit, so there is always great risk entrepreneurs take when investing money in starting the new work.

Answer: C. Sympathetic nervous system

Explanation: The sympathetic nervous system is a part of the involuntary or autonomic nervous system, this is the system in the body that regulates the blood pressure, body temperature, pupil dilation, sweating and all the involuntary actions. It helps adjust the body fast enough to take action or react to stimuli without consciousness. When in the face of danger, let say for example, a snake coming towards you, a car coming towards you or hearing disturbing sounds in the dark. You next action or respond will be either to stand and fight or run away, The system responsible for that action (fight or flight) is the sympathetic nervous system.

A surfer is about to attempt to ride the biggest wave she has ever seen. Her heart is pounding with fear, and she is not sure if
erastova [34]

Answer:

The surfer wants to attempt to ride the biggest wave, but she is scared and she is not sure if she can make it out successfully but she decides to ride the wave anyway. Her behavior can be explained through the theories of motivation and emotion below:

a. Achievement motive

This is the impulse in humans to face challenges, overcome and master it in order to reach the pinnacle of excellence.

The surfer has this impulse and is seeking to overcome the wave and master it.

b. Arousal theory

This theory of motivation explains that people will undertake certain actions to sustain a high level of physiological arousal.

The surfer has a high level of arousal which motivates her to seek out the dangerous but stimulating activity of riding the biggest wave she has ever seen.

c. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a theory that is based on motivation and which has five tiers containing the model of human needs.

The hierarchy contains the needs from the least to the greatest and they include:

a. Physiological needs

b. Safety needs

c. Love and belonging.

d. Esteem

e. Self-actualization.

The surfer is at the highest level of human need which is self-actualization and that is why she is ready to take on the dangerous wave.

d. Cannon-Bard thalamic theory

This theory is based on emotion and it states that we feel different emotions and physiological reactions in bodies simultaneously.

The surfer is feeling the different emotions in her body such as fear, doubt, and her decision to undertake the dangerous mission.

e. Opponent-process theory

This theory states that every process has either an unpleasant or pleasant balance and is followed by a secondary process that sets in after the primary process is silenced. As exposure increases, the primary process becomes weaker and the opponent-process becomes stronger.

The surfer is showing a higher level of fear because it is her first time and would likely experience less pleasure when she completes the task but the more she performs the task, the pleasure increases, and the fear reduces.
