Orange=x
apple=y
12x + 7y =5.36
8x + 5y  =3.68
Now,we can do simultaneous equation to get answer
First,we have to find the same value for one of these numbers
60x + 35y =26.8
-56x -35y = -25.76
Then,add two equations to get new equation
4x = 1.04
and one equation from the begining
4x = 1.04
8x + 5y = 3.68
then divide 1.04 with 4 from the first equation to get value of x
x = 0.26
8x + 5y = 3.68
Then just change x with number 0.26 in the second equation.
x = 0.26
8 * 0.26 + 5y = 3.68
x=0.26
2.08 +5y = 3.68
x=0.26
5y =  3.68 - 2.08
x=0.26
5y= 1.6
x=0.26
y=0.32

Oranges=r
apples=a

12<em>r</em>+7<em>a</em>=5.36
-12<em>r </em>      -12<em>r</em>
What you do on one side you do on both sides
12 on the left cancels out
7<em>a</em>=5.36-12<em>r</em>
/7   /7     /7
Divide 7
7 on the left cancels out
5.36/7=0.76....
left with
<em>a</em>=0.76-12<em>r</em>/7
so the apples cost $0.76 each
to get the cost of the oranges (<em>r</em>) you do the same as you did to get the cost of the apples.

Also on the other equation for 8 oranges and 5 apples you might get different answers but you will see that they are close/similar to the same answers as you will get for the last equations.
