Many aspects of the angiosperm life cycle make flowering plants particularly well-suited to life on land. In fact, angiosperms a

re the most diverse and widespread of all plants.Which six of the following statements reflect angiosperm adaptations to life on land?In angiosperms, a gametophyte protects a dependent sporophyte from desiccation.Flowers attract animal pollinators carrying pollen from other plants of the same species.Fruits aid in the dispersal of seeds by wind or by animals that carry or eat the fruits. In many angiosperms, the male gametophyte contained in a pollen grain can be transported many miles away by wind or animal pollinators.Floral parts of the sporophyte protect the reduced female gametophyte from drying out and from UV radiation.Fertilization in angiosperms is dependent on the presence of water.Spores contain a supply of stored food, enabling the embryo to remain dormant until conditions are suitable for germination.Seeds protect and nourish plant embryos, and fruits protect the seeds.Seeds enable plant embryos to be dispersed long distances from the parent plant via wind or animals.

Answer:

Following are the six accurate statements:

1. The seeds allow the plant embryos to get dispersed over the long distances from the parent plant through animals or wind.

2. In various angiosperms, the male gametophyte comprised in a pollen grain can get translocated various miles away through animal or wind.

3. Fruits help in the dispersal of seeds by animals or wind, which eat or carry the fruits.

4. The fruits protect the seeds, and the seeds nourish and protect the plant embryos.

5. The floral components of the sporophyte safeguard the reduced female gametophyte from dying out and from ultraviolet radiation.

6. Flowers fascinate animal pollinators carrying pollen from other plants of the similar species.

The other mentioned statements are incorrect. The spores are not generated in the angiosperms, however, seed gets produced post-fertilization that comprises developing embryo. The cotyledons exhibit stored food substance and seeds are comprised within the seeds. The seeds get dispersed with the help of abiotic and biotic agents.

The fertilization in angiosperms is not reliant upon the water, it is rather the pteridophytes and bryophytes that cannot complete their life cycle in the absence of water. In angiosperms, the main plant body is sporophyte that safeguards the female gametophyte.

When a muscle cell demands energy to contract, what happens to ATP?
icang [17]
C. ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) has three phosphate groups attached. Each one of the groups occupies an extremely high energy bond (free energy that can do work). In muscle contraction, that high-energy bond is broken and the energy is released for muscle contraction. So when the bond is broken, you end up with ADP (Adenosine Dipohosphate) - broken down.

Question 1: Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health (20 points) a) Describe two ways of measuring biodiversity. Explain the relationsh
fredd [130]

Answer:

explanation below

Explanation:

A) Biodiversity is simply known as the number and variety of organisms found in a definite environment or region.  Scientists have devised several ways of measuring biodiversity and the methods to be used depend on the type of organisms they are to count.

Canopy fogging – one of the ways of measuring biodiversity, has remained an effective way of obtaining details about the biodiversity of insects.  It involves the act of spraying  low dose of insecticides on a tree top, and when the insects fall from the trees, they are being collected on a large screen, that looks like a funnel.

Transact sampling is another way of measuring biodiversity and this time, with a transact line. The transact line is usually a measuring tape or rope that has been marked at set intervals.

b) Ecosystem stability is the ability of the ecosystem to maintain its steady state, even after it has experienced stress or disturbances.  The biodiversity of an environment makes huge impact on the ecosystem stability in that particular area. It has been known that certain areas that have high levels of species and genetic diversity, are more likely going to an ecosystem that is complex, with varying food webs and biotic interactions. The increase in this complexity makes it more likely that the ecosystem of that area will rightly move back to a stable state whenever disturbances are experienced.

There are evaluated scientific evidence that shows that reduced biodiversity affects the transmission of communicable disease in agricultural crops, animals and humans. Loss of biodiversity usually increases susceptibility to diseases in plants and humans.

How does smooth muscle appear different at the cellular level
lara [203]

Explanation:

Smooth muscle can be found in the walls of hollow organs and passageways, they can contract and they have fibers of actin and myosin tuning though it arranged in an staircase form.

In the images I added you can see how smooth muscle looks when observed in a microscope, wider in the middle and elongated at the ends, and the staircase arrangement.

I hope you find this information useful and interesting! Good luck!
