The speaker is literally lost while wandering around at night and wants to find her way home, but she doesn't feel that America is her home. The speaker feels lost in America, but more importantly she feels as if she has lost the imagined America of her dreams. The speaker believes that Americans have lost sight of their values and so have made America a dangerous wilderness. D. The speaker cannot think of herself as anything but a worker and so she feel that she has lost herself in America.​
