Writ of Certiorari: This is like an order from the Court to the lower court to tender the records for a specific case so that it can be reviewed.

On Appeal: This is when the decisions made by a lower level court has been requested to be reviewed by any party.

The Solicitor General: This office determines whether some lower level court's decisions to the supreme court should be appealed by the federal government.

Selecting Cases: This is a process of selection whereby the Justice or his/her clerk can see, identify and propose cases that should be seriously considered.
