Answer: 2a+c

Step-by-step explanation: You add all variables that are positive then you subtract by negatives or vice versa. Add 3a+6a-7a yes subtract the 7a which gets you 2a. Add 8b+b-9b, you get 9b-9b which is 0 so you don’t need b in the problem anymore. -5a+4c+2c then you get c, because it is 1 c. So your answer is 2a+c. :P Hope this helped.

Given that (5,6) is on the graph of f(x), find the corresponding point for the function 4f(x)
Anvisha [2.4K]

Answer:

The corresponding point for the function 4f(x) is (5 , 24)

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets revise some transformation

- A vertical stretching: is the stretching of the graph away from

 the x-axis

- A vertical compression: is the squeezing of the graph toward

 the x-axis.

• if k > 1, the graph of y = k • f(x) is the graph of f (x) vertically

 stretched by multiplying each of its y-coordinates by k.

• if 0 < k < 1 (a fraction), the graph is f (x) vertically compressed

 by multiplying each of its y-coordinates by k.

* In our problem:

- Point (5 , 6) is on the graph of f(x)

- The function will be 4f(x), that means vertical stretching

 or vertical compression

∵ k = 4

∵ 4 > 1

∴ It is a vertical stretch

∴ We will multiply the y-coordinate by 4

∴ y' = 4 × 6 = 24

* The corresponding point for the function 4f(x) is (5 , 24)

Solve the system of linear equations by substitution. 8x−1/3y=0; 12x+3=y<br><br> Please help!
Elis [28]
Substitution involves replacing part of one equation with the other equation. In this case, the second equation is already solved for y. All we have to do is replace y in the first equation with 12x+3.

8x - (1/3)(12x+3) = 0

Distribute the -1/3

8x - 4x - 1 = 0

4x - 1 = 0

4x = 1

x = 1/4

Now plug 1/4 in for x to solve for y.

12(1/4) + 3 = y

y = 6

Answer: (1/4, 6)

\frac{42}{x}  =  \frac{5}{2}  \\ x = \frac{5}{2}  \times 42 \\ x = 5 \times  \frac{42}{2}  \\ x = 5 \times 21 \\ x = 105

On the average,1% of a specific engine componentis found to not perform to standards when tested at the engine assembly plant. F
sasho [114]

Answer: 0.07938

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X be  a binomial variable that represents the components of a specific engine.

As per given , the probability of componentis found to not perform to standards : p= 1%=0.01

Binomial probability formula :

P(X=x)=\ ^nC_xp^x(1-p)^{n-x}

Sample size : n= 100

If more than two are found to be non-performing the entire shipment is returned.

Now, Required probability : P(X>2)=1-P(X\leq 2)

=1-(P(X=0)+P(X=1)+P(X=2))\\\\=1- (^{100}C_{0}(0.01)^0(0.99)^{100}+^{100}C_{1}(0.01)^{1}(0.99)^{99}+^{100}C_{2}(0.01)^{2}(0.99)^{98})\\\\=1-((0.99)^{100}+(100)(0.01)(0.99)^{99}+\dfrac{100!}{2!98!}(0.01)(0.99)^98)\\\\=1-(0.36603+0.36973+0.18486)\\\\=1-(0.92062)\\\\=0.07938

So, the probability that a shipment is returned = 0.07938
