They were not prepared for war. The greatest possible disadvantage was that if they had tried to attack Germany at that time, they may well have lost. They needed time to ramp up for full military action.

After "the war to end all wars" (World War I, which was then called The Great War), there had been a strong aversion to return to war. The world was not ready for the way Germany remilitarized itself and used Blitzkrieg tactics to embark on a new war. When Germany attacked France in May, 1940, France was overwhelmed. The British needed to hold on with much resolve during the Battle of Britain (July - October, 1940). So to think that the British or French were ready in 1939 or 1940 to take on the German war machine on German soil would have been potentially disastrous.

Answer:

3.The Reconquista was completed.

1.The Spanish inquisition forced most non-Catholics out of Spain.

4.Spanish conquistadores traveled to the New World in search of riches and land.

2.The conquistadores converted the conquered colonies to Christianity.

Explanation:

In the year 1492, the Catholic Kings of Spain, the Queen Isabel de Castilla and the King Fernando de Aragón, completed the Reconquista, the reconquest of Spain from the Muslim domain. The last Muslim kingdom, Granada, was defeated and its Muslim ruler, Boabdil, left Spain. Since then, the unified Christian kingdom of Spain started a campaign to Christianize the whole country and, therefore, the Spanish Inquisition forced Jews and Muslims out of Spain.

In the same year, an Italian sailor and explorer, Christopher Columbus, received finance from the Spanish Crown to explore new routes to the West to get to India and the Eastern markets. Instead, in this trip, Columbus and his men got to the Americas, which they called the New World. It was the start of the Conquest of America and many conquistadores went to the Americas in search of riches and land. Many Christian missionaries went to the Americas as well to convert the native people to Christianity.

The aztec empire was destroyed because
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Explanation:

Here's a (very) brief summary of the fall of the Aztec empire, after the arrival of Hernando Cortes until the fall of Tenochtitlán (read a biography of Hernan Cortez here):

1519 (March 4): The Spaniards land in what is now Veracruz. The natives greet him with gifts. A contingent from Tenochtitlán also arrives with gifts. Cortes showed force and demonstrated his canons, terrifying the messengers.

Cortes sinks all the ships except one small vessel, and moves to the city-state of Tlaxcala. Generally speaking they begin on friendly terms.

The Spanish went on to Cholula. It's unclear what happened, but in the end many people in the city were killed by the Spanish. Read more about Cholula here.

1519 (Nov 8): Cortes and army arrives at Tenochtitlán, and begin on good terms. However, Cortes takes charge and demands tribute and some Roman Catholic shrines to replace the Aztec gods.

Cortes returns to the coast to defeat a rival Spanish army. The remaining soldiers join him.

The Aztecs revolt, driving the Spanish from the city. Cuitláhuac becomes emperor.

The Spanish go to Tlaxcala and make an alliance with them.

Most Aztec cities are conquered, and a siege of Tenochtitlán begins.

1521 (13 August): The last Aztec emperor, Cuauhtémoc, surrenders to Cortes.

What made the French Revolution turn from the direction from 1789-91, to the Radical Phase under the Jacobins? How was this just
timurjin [86]

Answer:

The French Revolution was a watershed event in modern European history that began in 1789 and ended in the late 1790s with the ascent of Napoleon Bonaparte. During this period, French citizens razed and redesigned their country’s political landscape, uprooting centuries-old institutions such as absolute monarchy and the feudal system. The upheaval was caused by widespread discontent with the French monarchy and the poor economic policies of King Louis XVI, who met his death by guillotine, as did his wife Marie Antoinette. Although it failed to achieve all of its goals and at times degenerated into a chaotic bloodbath, the French Revolution played a critical role in shaping modern nations by showing the world the power inherent in the will of the people.
