To solve an equation for a variable, you isolate that variable on one side of the equation and get everything else on the opposite side of the variable.

You isolate the variable by undoing the operations done to the variable.

For, example: if your variable x is being multiplied by 3, which would look like 3x, then you would undo that operation by using the inverse of multiplication. Which is division.

Also, remember this: if you do one operation on one side of the equation, you must also do the same operation to the opposite side.

\frac{3(y + 3)}{y + 1} + 2 = \frac{3y + 1}{y + 1}

The variable y is on both sides of the equation. We need to get them on one side the equation. But first, get rid of the denominators.

We can get rid of the denominators by multiplying both sides by y + 1.

(y + 1)(\frac{3(y + 3)}{y + 1} + 2) = (\frac{3y + 1}{y + 1})(y + 1) \\ \\ 3(y + 3) + 2y + 2 = 3y + 1

That's better. But we still have have a parentheses that we need to simplify.

Use the distributive property.

3(y + 3) + 2y + 2 = 3y + 1 \\ \\
3y + 9 + 2y + 2 = 3y + 1

Combine like terms.

3y + 9 + 2y + 2 = 3y + 1 \\ \\
5y + 11 = 3y + 1

Subtract 3y from both sides of the equation.

5y + 11  - 3y = 3y + 1 - 3y \\ \\
2y + 11 = 1

Subtract 11 from both sides of the equation.

2y + 11 - 11 = 1 - 11 \\ \\ 2y = -10

Divide both sides by 2.

2y  / 2= -10 / 2 \\ \\
y = -5

So, y is equal to -5.

Suppose the interval [negative 3−3,negative 1−1] is partitioned into nequals=44 subintervals. What is the subinterval length
Kobotan [32]

Answer: Δx = 0.5

Step-by-step explanation:

We have the interval:

[−3, −1]

and we partition it into 4 equal intervals.

first, the range of our interval is equal to the difference between the extremes, this is:

-1 - (-3) = -1 + 3 = 2

Then, if we divide it into 4, we have 4 segments with a range of:

2/4 = 0.5

Then the subinterval delta is 0.5, and the 4 intervals are:

[−3, -2.5],  [−2.5, −2],  [−2, −1.5],  [−1.5, −1]

Can you please tell me what the answer is
Gekata [30.6K]

Answer:

52.5

Step-by-step explanation:

WX curve is 105 degrees

so to find WYX, you need to divide the WX curve by 2:

105 / 2 = 52.5 degrees

I think this is right, I have not done this in years so I am rusty at this

The equation through the point (5,3) and is parallel the equation y=2/5x+7
nignag [31]

Answer:

Point - Slope Form: (y - 3) = 0.4(x - 5)

Slope - Intercept Form: y = 0.4x + 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Well if it's parallel, they have the same slope

Slope = 0.4

I'll do it in two forms:

Point - Slope Form: (y - 3) = 0.4(x - 5)

Slope - Intercept Form: y = 0.4x + b

3 = 2 + b

b = 1

y = 0.4x + 1

I might be wrong

Graph a line that contains the point (3,-6) and has a slope of -1/2
djyliett [7]
If I were you, I would make the starting point (3,-6). From there, you will want to use the slope of -1/2 (go down 1 unit and to the right 2 units and draw a point)
