Karen often finds that tasks come up unexpectedly during her day, and she has trouble figuring out how to rearrange her schedule

because she changes it daily. What should Karen do to prevent these unexpected tasks from disrupting her day?
A-plan out her day hour by hour so that her schedule remains full and she knows exactly what she'll be doing at any time
B-put off or ignore these unexpected tasks until they eventually go away
C-adopt a general routine so that she can better predict her schedule and plan for the unexpected
D-drop what she's doing and rearrange her schedule as she goes, even if she has to push back many items

Answer: C-adopt a general routine so that she can better predict her schedule and plan for the unexpected

Explanation: I think that what Karen needs to do is to find a balance between being flexible to adapt her schedule to these "unexpected tasks" and being organized as to predict in advance most of the activities she has to do every day. From the options given the closest to this balance is option C. I find the other options either too unpredictable or too strict.

This is a hard one and I can see why you decided to post it here. B is most definitely wrong but the other three are all neck and neck. There are both even pros and cons of A and C but I think it would be more reasonable to adopt a general routine. So I think the answer would be C.

Which lines in the excerpt from Elizabeth Bishop's "The Fish" use assonance?
kipiarov [429]
Well, we cannot possibly know since you haven't written this excerpt here, but assonance is the repetition of the same vowel (a, e, i, o, u) throughout one or several lines, so you can see for yourself what the correct answer is. :)

The affix ante- means "before." Based on this knowledge and the meaning of the root belli, when was the Antebellum period in Ame
amm1812

Answer:

C. Before the Civil War.

Explanation:

Based on the root word of the affix <u>"ante-"</u>, it is easy to say that any word that comes with this word will mean <u>"before"</u> or preceding it. Likewise, the root word <u>"belli" means "war" or "fighting"</u>. Therefore, if these two words are put together, then the new word is likely to refer to the period before a war.

Now, the word<em><u> "Antebellum" is a period in American history that is usually used by the Southern states to refer to the period or time before the Civil War</u></em>. Therefore, the <u>correct answer is option C.</u>
