Lets label hot dogs as 'h' and soft drinks as 'd'

6h + 4d = 13
3h + 4d = 8.50

We can solve by process of elimination.

Subtract the first equation from the second one.

We get:

3h = 4.5

Solve for h

<span>h = 1.5 </span>

<span>That means that the hot dog costs $1.50 which is answer choice </span>D.

<span>Hope that helps :)</span>

Well, since they both bought the same amount of soft drinks, you can just subtract 8.50 from 13 to find out the cost of 3. 13-8.50=4.50. Then divide 4.50 by three to get the cost to of one! 4.50/3=1.50. It is 1.50$ for one hotdog, so D. Hope this helped!

DedPeter [7]

Answer:

X = 8, y = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

This question is an optimization problem. Two equations are going to be needed here

n = x+y

P = xy

Such that 64 = xy

When we divide through by x we get:

y = 64/x

So that n becomes:

n = x + 64/x

n = x+64x^-1

We take derivative

n' = 1-64x^-2

When n' = 0 then a min|max occurs

0 = 1-64x^-2

Such that:

64/x² = 1

Divide through by x²

64 = x²

x = √64

x = 8

Remember y = 64/x

So,

Y = 64/8

Y = 8.

X = 8, y = 8

Thank you!

24+3x=3x+3(7-1) What does x equal? Please show me how to do it I don't want the answer. (Well I do but show me how to get it als
balandron [24]

<span>                                               <u>24 + 3x = 3x + 3(7 - 1)</u>

Eliminate the parentheses:    24 + 3x = 3x + 3(6)

                                              24 + 3x = 3x + 18

Subtract  3x  from each side:       <em>24  =  18</em>

Look at that for a second.  Can ANY value of 'x' make 24 equal to 18 ?
I don't think so.
There's NO number that makes the equation a true statement.

That's just another way to say: "The equation has NO solution."</span>
