Identify the percent of change as an increase or a decrease 12 inches to 36 inches, increases what is the percent of change ___%

Mathematics
1 answer:
Alisiya [41]4 years ago
8 0

Answer:

It was an increase of 200%.

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to identfy the percent of the change we need to first find the absolute value, to do that we subtract the final value from the initial one. We have:

absolute difference = 36 - 12 = 24 inches

Since this value is positive it was an increase. Now we need to find the percentage at which it was increased, to do that we can use a rule of three in a way that the original value is 100% and the value we want to know is the percentage for the absolute increase. We do this as follows:

12 inches -> 100%

24 inches -> x %

12*x = 2400

x = 2400/12 = 200 %

It was an increase of 200%.

At a bargain store, Tanya bought 3 items that each cost the same amount. Tony bought 4 items that each cost the same amount., bu
TEA [102]

Answer: Let x represent the cost of one of Tanya's items.

Then the cost of one of Tony's items =x - 2.25. But we have:

3x =4(x - 2.25)

3x =4x - 9 subtract 3x from both sides

0 =x - 9 add 9 to both sides

x=$9 The cost of one of Tanya's items

27 Total cost of Tanya's 3 items

2.25 =$6.75 cost of one of Tony's items.

27 Total cost of Tony's 4 items.

3 x 6.75 =$27. This shows that both Tony and Tanya spent the same amount of money.

Which function best fits the following points?
Goryan [66]

Given:

The graph of a scatter plot.

To find:

The function that best fits the given points.

Solution:

From the given graph it is clear that the linear function is the best fit for the given points because the points lie on a straight line or near to it.

So, options B and C are incorrect because they represent exponential and quadratic function respectively.

Let as assume the two points on the graph are (0.80,-12.82) and (2,-12.79).

Using this two points, the equation of line is:

y-(-12.82)=\dfrac{-12.79-(-12.82)}{2-0.80}(x-0.80)

y+12.82=\dfrac{-12.79+12.82}{2-0.80}(x-0.80)

y+12.82=0.025(x-0.80)

y+12.82=0.025x-0.02

y=0.025x-0.02-12.82

y=0.025x-12.84

y=-12.84+0.025x

It is the approximate function to the function that is in option A.

Therefore, the correct option is A.
