The author finds himself trapped in a room where he looks at beautiful pictures of nature. None of this would seem strange in any work of literature. However, the author goes on to explain that all these images are not earthly views, and that they belong to a race of people in Mars. The fact that the author is in a different planet tells us that this is a work of fantasy.
