Answer:

Both trucks are 150 miles after 1.516 hours

Solution:

Given, Two trucks leave a factory at the same time.

one travels east 60 miles per hour, and the other travels west at the 39 miles per hour.

We have to find In how many hours will they be 150 miles apart?

Let the time after which they will be 150 miles apart be t.

Now, we know that, distance = speed x time.

For 1st truck ⇒ distance from factory = 60 x t

For 2nd truck ⇒ distance from factory = 39 x t

Here, t is same for both trucks as time is seen from common point of view.

Now, according to the given information,

distance of 1st truck from factory + distance of 2nd truck from factory = 150 miles.

60t + 39t = 150

99t = 150

t = 1.516 approximately.

Hence, both trucks are 150 miles after 1.516 hours.

Suppose you drive a car 392 miles on one tank of gas. The tank holds 14 gallons of gas. (Assume the car travels the same distanc
RUDIKE [14]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose you drive a car 392 miles on one tank of gas. The tank holds 14 gallons of gas. This means that

1 gallon of gas would be used to drive 392/14 = 28 miles

a) The number of miles traveled varies directly with the number of gallons of gas used.

Let x =number of gallons of gas you use.

Let y = the number of miles travelled.

Since y varies directly with x, we will introduce a constant of proportionality, k. Therefore,

y = kx

If 28 miles will require 1 gallon of gas, it means

28 = 1×k

k = 28

So y = 28x

b) we want to determine how far you can drive with 3.7 gallons of gas.

x = 3.7

y = 28x = 28×3.7

y = 103.6 miles

If all of the diagonals are drawn from a vertex of an octagon, how many triangles are formed?
Lynna [10]
There are 6, you'd think there would be 8 but the answer is actually 6. A diagonal is a line segment that connects to vertices, the two vertices chosen do not count when forming the triangle, two vertices that are adjacent to that chosen vertex are NOT included when forming the diagonal. It's confusing, but I hope this helps. If you have any follow up questions I'd love to answer them.
