It was a brief period of inner peace between the English Reformation and the religious battles between Protestants and Catholics and the political battles between parliament and the monarchy that consumed the remainder of the seventeenth century.
The relative peace of mind that Elizabeth gave the British allowed them to start to believe more freely, without the fear of the church condemning their soul they could express, enjoy and exercise their faith more freely.
