Turkey pardoned by Barack Obama was courage pardoned in 2009 during the first year of his presidency.

Further Explanation:

Thanksgiving is a national feast day witnessed on the 4thThursday of November every year in America. It started in 1789 as a harvest fiesta feted nationally, proclaimed by George Washington. It is observed a federal day off since 1863, since the American civil war. The day is also considered as the dawn of winter season along with Christmas and New Year in United States. The first Thanksgiving in the United States was observed by the Pilgrims after the harvest during October 1621 in New World.

The feast is centered to roasted turkey and is even served with the varieties of dishes like mashed potatoes, cranberry sauces and other stuffing's. These dishes reflect the cultural and regional heritages that are food of the new world. It is believed that people dine more on thanksgiving than in normal days of the year. The meal is served mostly in the afternoon as many dishes are being offered and the people should have much time to eat all the dishes.

Which statement BEST describes life in the Soviet Union under totalitarian leader Joseph Stalin?
san4es73 [151]

Answer:

b. Critics of the government were murdered or imprisoned.

Explanation:

Here is an in-depth explanation for my answer. These have neither dates nor real evidence to back them up, so you will have to find any sources to back up my claims on your own. You're also free to disagree or edit my take of Stalin's totalitarianism; my aim here is just to give a starting point for you to build off of and make your own.

a. Peasants owned land that they could farm.

 • Communism and really socialism as a whole brought forth an idea that there should be no privately owned land; any and all land was owned by the federal government, and people simply used it. So, even with little historical knowledge on Stalinism, we can assume this answer is incorrect.

b. Critics of the government were murdered or imprisoned.

 • Under Stalinism, there was no room for critique of government. Any party leaders and any critics of Stalinism with goals set on exposing corruption and flaws in current Soviet society were later found dead or jailed, peasants were imprisoned and put into forced labor if they went against the state and also sometimes killed off if they were thought of as spies. In the end, Stalin attempted complete removal of any opposition he may have faced, and used fear tactics to control the Soviet Union as its dictator.

c. Voters could choose between candidates from two political parties.

 • Voters could not find any candidats that weren't already killed off by Stalin, so there was no one to vote for other than Stalin himself. Sure, they could vote, but there wasn't a political party other than Stalin's that could grab the brainwashed public's vote.

d. The government set up a court system based on truth and justice.

 • If there was a court system to be found in the Soviet Union at the time, it was so unnoteworthy it may as well have not existed in the first place. The "court system" under Stalin rule was basically just an extension of Stalin's power, and Stalin always made sure that any decision was made with his consent or with his consent in mind.

A parliamentary system experiences fewer conflicts between the executive branch and the legislative branch than does a president
goldfiish [28.3K]

Answer:

The members of the executive branch are also the member of the parliament.

Explanation:

The members of the executive are also members of the parliament is the main reason why there is less conflict between the executive and the legislative. and they are required to get the political confidence first to execute laws. The relationship of confidence between the executive and the legislative is an important feature of the parliamentary governments and for that confidence, both should have a common policy program. Unlike the presidential system, there is no strict separation of the powers between the executive and the legislative bodies as the members of the legislature is also the member of the executive.

Why did Lech Walesa win a Nobel Peace Prize in 1983?
Orlov [11]

The correct answer is D.

Lech Walesa (born in 1943) is a Polish politician and labour activist. He founded and leaded Solidarity the first free labor union in the Soviet bloc. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1983 and became president of Poland in 1990 until 1995.

The reasons why he was awarded the Nobel Prize was because he developed mechanisms for peaceful resolution of labor issues in his country. He established networks for negotiations and cooperation between the government and the unions, specifically his organization called Solidarity. He attempted to solve problems through peaceful initiatives, while surrounded by a world in constant tension due to the Cold War scenario. His behaviour set a model to be followed and this is why the committee decided to give him the award.
