1. A Scottish surgeon and teacher. He tried to observe small details in his patients. Automatically after patients started talking or moving, he could tell their profession and culture. This is also how he became the inspiration for the character Sherlock Holmes.

2. Many people back then rarely gave real diagnostics of patients and basically prayed that whatever random thing they tried would have to be good enough.

3. Maintains and is interconnected with the health community. Electronically medical records.

4. On average, physicians tend to interrupt their patients at about 11 seconds. This is a problem since the physician could be kept from hearing some crucial information that the patient has not yet mentioned.

5.  The advantages are that by having a physical exam, the doctor can find out what is important. This also allows doctors to collect reliable information and a professional diagnostic.
