Answer:

The maximum number of calories per day that she can consume to lose 3 pounds per month is 1650 kcal.

Explanation:

Energy (expressed in calories) is required for the normal functioning of our body and the main energy sources are macronutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in our food. The calories consumed through food are either converted to energy or stored within the body as fat.  In order to lose weight, a person should either burn more calories by increasing physical activities or reduce calorie intake. It is estimated that in order to lose 1 pound of weight, a person should burn 3,500 calories (one pound or 0.45 kilogram of fat = 3,500 calories).

In order to lose 3 pounds per month, the total calories Sally should burn per month is 3 × 3500 = 10,500 kcal.

Therefore, the calories she should burn per day is 10,500 ÷ 30 = 350 kcal (assuming, one month = 30 days).

Sally's daily energy requirement is estimated as approximately 2000 kcalories. Therefore, the maximum calories she can consume per day to lose 3 pounds per month is 2000 - 350 = 1650 kcal.

1. I believe the answer is the nucleus. Nucleus is a part of cell in living organisms that stores genetic materials. It is believed that the eukaryotic nucleus could have evolved from the fusion of thermoacidophil archebacterium fused with a motile eubacterium. This is a defining feature of eukaryotic cells. There is evidence that nuclear pore complexes and nuclear membranes co-evolved with the endomembrane system, and the last eukaryotic common ancestor had fully functional nuclear pore complexes.

2. Recombinant DNA technology involves altering genetic material outside an organism to obtain enhanced and desired characteristics in living organisms or as their products. It involves insertion of DNA fragments from a variety of sources, having desirable gene sequence via appropriate vector. However, the government has still not approved the technology in genetically modified grass because of the concern of the release of genetically engineered organisms into the environment and the concerns about environment safety.

3. Meiosis is the process of cell division which takes place in the gametes cells where the a diploid (2n) parent cells divides into four haploid cells. The process takes place in two stages namely meiosis I and meiosis II. At the end of meiosis II the daughter cells formed are haploid (n) meaning they have one set of chromosomes as compared with the parent cell. This means the four daughter cells have half as much and genetically the same as the original parent cell.

4. Speciation is the process by which new species are formed from a population. This process takes place as a result of geographic, anatomical, physiological or behavioral factors that prevent previously interbreeding populations from breeding with each other. Thus, in this case, i would say that speciation has definitely occurred when two groups of related organisms become permanently isolated from each other.

What causes populations to complete
Neko [114]

Answer:

Exponential growth assumes that environmental factors like food, water supply, space, shelter, disease organisms, predators, weather conditions, and natural disasters do not affect the birth or death rate. As long as birth rate exceeds death rate (even slightly) population size will increase exponentially.

How do animals obtain all the necessary components to form amino acids.
inessss [21]

Answer:Animals get these amino acids by eating plants or animals that eat plants. This works because plants can make all twenty amino acids including the ten or so "essential" ones that most animals can't. ... Animals evolved to work this way because it saves energy.

What are the intercellular communication types at a synapse? Select all that apply.
Anettt [7]

Answer: Option A and D.

Soups chemical synaptic transmission.

Sparks direct electrical transmission.

Explanation:

Intercellular communication refers to the communication and interaction that exists between two cells in the body. It could be hormonal or synaptic transmission.

Synapse is the site where electric nerve impulses are transmitted between two nerve impulses.

There are two synapse possibilities which are electrical and chemical.

The Sparks and soups mean that the scientific discovery over the transmission of nerve impulses as to whether they are electrical impulses (Sparks) or chemical impulses(soup).

Chemical synaptic transmission means there is no physical touch in the space chemical are released and move to the neighbouring cells.

Electrical transmission means neuron physically touch and give way for flow of impulses between cells.
