Bacteria multiply by division. One bacterium becomes two. Then two divide into four, the four divide into eight, and so on. For

a certain strain of bacteria, the time for this division process is one minute. If you put one bacterium in a bottle at 11:00 p.m., by midnight the entire bottle will be full.
1. At what time will the bottle be half full? t realize that 2. Suppose you could be a bacterium in this bottle. At what tim you were running out of space? Explain your response.

Answer:

1) By 11:30pm

2) Shortly before midnight (few minutes to 12:00am)

Explanation:

Since the strain of bacteria takes 1 minute to divide (double its population), and by midnight (12:00am) the entire bottle becomes full, then:

I) Subtract Initial division time from Final division time i.e 12:00 - 11:00 = 1 hour

II) Split 1 hour into two (60minutes makes 1 hour)

I hour/2 = 30 minutes

Definitely, the bottle will be half filled by 11:30pm

2) Once half filled, the rapidly dividing cells reach for the top of the bottle as midnight approaches. By 11:50pm upwards, bottle space must have been running out

Which of the following statements is false? A. Tissues exist within organs which exist within organ systems. B. Communities exis
Studentka2010 [4]

Answer: The correct answer is option B

Explanation:

The correct hierarchy level is

Organelles-cells-tissue-organ-organ system-organism-population-community-ecosystem-biosphere.

Community refers to the group of populations of two or more species located in the specific area. Thus, populations exist within community which exist within ecosystem.

Thus, option B is incorrect.

How are catastrophism and gradualism different
Elza [17]

Catastrophism is associated with major changes that occurs once at a time in a species while gradualism is associated with tiny changes that occurs over a period of time that finally contributes a bigger evolutionary change.

<u>Explanation:</u>

The events that are sudden, short-lived, violent occurring worldwide thereby changing the shape of the Earth is Catastrophic. This process is opposite to contrast to  gradualism which is also called as uniformitarianism. This process is associated with slow and also incremental changes. Erosion is the best example for this process.

The formation of major mountain chains and great floods are some of the examples of Catastrophism. Both are associated with the changes that occurs in a species by the time taken for the changes determines whether it is Catastrophism or gradualism.

Categorize allele interactions as completely dominant, incompletely dominant, or codominant.
evablogger [386]

Answer:

Explanation:

Gregor Mendel showed his inheritance character in the garden pea plant. According to him, there are 2 alleles which are inheritable - dominant allele and recessive allele. The dominant allele is always dominant over the recessive one which is known as the complete dominance. When the offsprings have both recessive alleles it will show its character.

There are other characters present besides dominant and recessive. Such characters are known as Mendelian deviation as it does not obey Mendel's law of inheritance. e.g. codominance, incomplete dominance.

In codominance alleles, characters are blended and a new character has seen in the next generation. This new character is neither dominant not recessive, it is an intermediate character between the 2 characters.

e.g When the white and red flowers crossed pink flowers are formed along with red and white.

In the case of codominance, both alleles express their characters. Such phenotypic characters are known as codominance because both alleles are expressed in the offsprings.

e.g. When the red and white flower plants crossed the offspring flowers are red with white spots or the white with red spots.

An organism's development from an embryo may contain clues about its history that scientists can use to develop relationships an
Leviafan [203]
<h2>Answer is option "C"</h2>

Explanation:

  • The way that these formative highlights are so like the gill structures in fish bolsters that fish, chicks, and people share a typical predecessor
  • Ancestral characters are regularly, however not constantly, safeguarded in a life form's improvement. For example, both chick and human early creatures experience a stage where they have cuts and bends in their necks like the gill cuts and gill bends of fish
  • These structures are not gills and don't shape into gills in chicks and individuals, be that as it may, how they are so similar to gill structures in fish currently being created support that chicks and individuals share a run of the mill ancestor with fish. Subsequently, formative characters, alongside different lines of proof, can be utilized for developing phylogenies
  • Hence, the right answer is option C "fish, birds, and humans share a common ancestor"
