No, because 5x4 equals 20 and 1x4 equals 4. And if add 20 plus 4 it equals 24. That is why he is wrong.

I do not agree, because 6×8=48.If I multipy 5×4=20 and 1×4=4 and if you add it it will make 24.We don't want 24 we want 48

Fran cut her sandwich into 6 pieces. If Fran ate 1/3 of her sandwich, how many pieces did he eat?
olga2289 [7]
2 pieces :)

Not sure if you wanted work but here is my explanation:

there are six pieces that she cut out, and she ate 1/3 of the six pieces,

1/3=2/6

since there are 6 pieces 1/3 would then equal 2 pieces. :)

Hope this helps:)

Characterize the slope of the line in the graph
katen-ka-za [31]

Answer:

Please check the attached graph.

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>Note: You did not add the graph; so I am taking a sample graph to clear the concept anyway. Please check the referred graph attached below.</em>

<em />

The slope on the graph basically tells us the time rate of change.

  • In other words, it describes the steepness of a straight line.

The slope can also be termed as:

  • Slope = rise / run

<em />

From the attached graph, taking twp points

  • (0, 3)
  • (-1, 0)

Finding the slope between (0, 3) and (-1, 0) using the formula

\left(x_1,\:y_1\right)=\left(0,\:3\right),\:\left(x_2,\:y_2\right)=\left(-1,\:0\right)

\mathrm{Slope}=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

m=\frac{0-3}{-1-0}

m=3

Thus, the slope of the given line on the graph = m = 3

A soccer player kicks a rock horizontally off a 31.0 m high cliff into a pool of water. If the player hears the sound of the spl
OLga [1]

Answer:

initial speed given to the rock is v= 147.46 m/s

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the player kicks the rock horizontally , then its initial vertical speed is always vy₀=0 and thus the time to hit the pool is independent of the speed given to the rock . t is calculated through

0 = y + vy₀*t - 1/2*g*t² = y+ 0 - 1/2*g*t²

then

t = √(2*y/g) = √(2*31 m/ 9.8 m/s²)   = 2.515 s

when the rock hits the water , the sound wave travels diagonally a distance D and is heard by the player. the distance D is

D= v sound * T

the time the sound wave travels is T= 3.6 s -  2.515 s = 1.085 s and v sound= 343 m/s

then

D= v sound * T = 343 m/s* 1.085 s = 372.155 m

since the distance D is also

D= √(x² + y²)

then the horizontal distance  x is

x= √(D² - y²)= √[(372.155 m)² - (31 m)²] = 370.861 m

since the rock hits the water at t = 2.515 s , the horizontal velocity of the ball  ( and thus the initial speed given to the ball since there is no acceleration in the horizontal direction if we depreciate air friction)

v=x/t = 370.861 m/2.515 s = 147.46 m/s

As x increases by 1 what will be the rate of change for y in this equation y=-2x+6
Natali5045456 [20]

the rate of change of a linear function is the same slope

the slope of a linear function is the coefficient that accompanies the variable in this case the variable is x and the slope is -2

so, the rate of change for y is -2

The slope is 3/2. The slope perpendicular to that would be -2/3
