That is a 3, 4, 5 right triangle.

Since 5 × 3 = 15 everything is multiplied by 3

3 × 3 = 9 ( the smaller leg )

4 × 3 = 12 ( the longer leg )

~~

Answer : 9

Select the correct answer. Which set of coordinates satisfies the equations x − 2y = -1 and 2x + 3y = 12? A. (1, 2) B. (3, 1) C.
alekssr [168]

Answer:

The coordinates that satisfy the equations will be: (3, 2)

Hence, <em>option C</em> is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the equations

x\:-2y\:=-1;\:2x\:+\:3y=12

solving the equations to find the solution values (coordinates)

\begin{bmatrix}x-2y=-1\\ 2x+3y=12\end{bmatrix}

\mathrm{Multiply\:}x-2y=-1\mathrm{\:by\:}2\:\mathrm{:}\:\quad \:2x-4y=-2

\begin{bmatrix}2x-4y=-2\\ 2x+3y=12\end{bmatrix}

2x+3y=12

-

\underline{2x-4y=-2}

7y=14

so

\begin{bmatrix}2x-4y=-2\\ 7y=14\end{bmatrix}

solve for y

7y=14

y=2

\mathrm{For\:}2x-4y=-2\mathrm{\:plug\:in\:}y=2

2x-4\cdot \:2=-2

2x=6

\mathrm{Divide\:both\:sides\:by\:}2

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{6}{2}

x=3

\mathrm{The\:solutions\:to\:the\:system\:of\:equations\:are:}

x=3,\:y=2

Therefore, the coordinates that satisfy the equations will be: (3, 2)

Hence, <em>option C</em> is correct.

A line passes through the points (4,8) and (2,0). What is its equation in slope-intercept<br> form?
lorasvet [3.4K]

Answer:

The answer is y = 4x - 8.

Step-by-step explanation:

☆Remember: m =  \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}

☆Slope-intercept: y = mx + b

---

☆We need to find the slope first. So just plug in according to the slope formula!

m =  \frac{0 - 8}{2 - 4}  =  \frac{ - 8}{ - 2}  = 4

---

☆Now we need to find the y-intercept. We are going to plug in the slope and a set of coordinates to find the y-intercept.

y = mx + b \\ 8 = 4(4) + b \\ 8 = 16 + b \\   \frac{ - 16 =  - 16 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: }{ - 8 = b \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: }

---

☆Now all we need to do is plug in and we are done!

y = 4x - 8

The simple harmonic motion equation given in the question is
<span>d=2sin(pi/3t)
The actual equation can be written as
</span><span>d = A sin ( ωt )
</span>where "A" is the amplitude and "6" is the period. I hope that this is the answer that you were looking for and the answer has actually come to your desired help.

Find the value of r so the line that passes through (-5,2) and (3,r) has a slope of -1/2
soldier1979 [14.2K]

The value of r so the line that passes through (-5,2) and (3,r) has a slope of -1/2 is -2

<u>Solution:</u>

Given that line is passing through point (-5, 2) and (3, r)

Slope of the line is \frac{-1}{2}

Need to determine value of r.

Slope of a line passing through point \left(x_{1}, y_{1}\right) \text { and }\left(x_{2}, y_{2}\right)  is given by following formula:

\text { Slope } m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}  --- eqn 1

\text { In our case } x_{1}=-5, y_{1}=2, x_{2}=3, y_{2}=\mathrm{r} \text { and } m=-\frac{1}{2}

On substituting the given value in (1) we get

\begin{array}{l}{-\frac{1}{2}=\frac{r-2}{3-(-5)}} \\\\ {\text { Solving the above expression to get value of } r} \\\\ {=>-\frac{1}{2}=\frac{r-2}{3+5}} \\\\ {=>-8=\frac{r-2}{3+5}} \\\\ {=>-8=2(r-2)} \\\\ {=>-8=2 r-4} \\\\ {=>2 r=-8+4} \\\\ {=>2 r=-4} \\\\ {=>r=\frac{-4}{2}=-2}\end{array}

Hence the value of "r" is -2
