You just want to multiply the two numbers together, so the answer would be 69,700.

(Also, there's a shortcut when multiplying by multiples of ten, such as 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000 etc. Just add on the number of zeros that you see to the number which doesn't have the zeros in it. In this example, add two zeros (present in the 100) to the number 697, which will give you 69,700)

Hope this helped! Good luck!! :)

Here is a trick I always use:

Get rid of both zeros in100 for now
So just do 697*1 which is just 697

Now add the two zeros to your answer to get 69,700 which is the final answer

For what values of p is the value of the binomial 1.5p−1 smaller than the value of the binomial 1+1.1p?
djverab [1.8K]

Answer:

  p < 5

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to find p for ...

  1.5p -1 < 1 +1.1p

  0.4p < 2 . . . . add 1-1.1p

  p < 5 . . . . . . . multiply by 2.5

The desired relationship will be the case for values of p less than 5.

WINSTONCH [101]
  • The margin of error of the proportion given is of 2.9%.
  • Applying the margin of error, the confidence interval is (29.1%, 34.9%).

-----------------------

The margin of error of a confidence interval of a proportion \pi in a sample of size n, with a confidence level of 1-\alpha, is:

M = z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

In which z is the z-score that has a p-value of 1 - \frac{\alpha}{2}.

The confidence interval is:

\pi \pm M

In this problem:

  • Poll of 1012 people, thus n = 1012.
  • 32% keep a dog, thus \pi = 0.32

95% confidence level

Thus \alpha = 0.05, z is the z-score that has a p-value of 1 - \frac{0.05}{2} = 0.975, so z = 1.96.

The margin of error is:

M = 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.32(0.68)}{1012}} = 0.029

As a percent, 2.9%, as 0.029 x 100% = 2.9%.

Now for the confidence interval, which is <u>percentage plus/minus margin of error</u>, thus:

32 - 2.9 = 29.1

32 + 2.9 = 34.9

The confidence interval is (29.1%, 34.9%).
