What is the exodus of Venezuelans?

The exodus of Venezuelans is an event that has occurred since the 2010s in which Venezuela entered a deep economic crisis due to the mismanagement of its president Nicolás Maduro. As a consequence of this, the living conditions of the citizens worsened causing migration to other countries.

How does this event relate to the five themes?

This event relates to the five themes as follows:

Cultural interaction: The exodus of Venezuelans has caused the interaction of different cultures between Venezuelans and the population of other countries such as Colombia, Peru, the United States, Chile, Mexico, among others.

Political Structures: This problem has been caused by a poor implementation of a political structure based on socialism. On the other hand, in response to this exodus, the countries have implemented measures to prohibit, regulate or allow the entry of Venezuelans into their territories.

Economic structures: This situation has had a profound influence on the economy of the recipient countries because Venezuelans have come to complement the local labor force and have deepened labor informality.

Human-environment relations: This situation has affected the environment because Venezuelan immigrants have chosen to build their own improvised houses in different places, causing environmental damage and risks to their own health.
