day, she weaves in full view. But at night, while they're all sleeping
it off, she stays up late, ripping out everything she wove during the
daylight hours. So she makes very little progress on this weaving! And
they're too stupid to notice.
She must also be very forceful in her personality, although she doesn't
come off this way in the story. Because she's ruling Ithaca in the
absence of her husband, for 20 years. He's at Troy for 10 years, you
know. Then it takes him another 10 years to get home. Somebody had to
