The four applications of genetics to human problems include;

  1. Medicine
  2. Forensics
  3. Agriculture
  4. Scientific research

Explanation:

Genetics is a branch of science that is focused on the study of genes, how they vary across individuals and species, and how they are inherited.

Genetics has allowed humans to improve on their health. By understanding how genes work, genes therapy has been used to correct malfunctioning genes in patients.

In forensics, laboratory techniques like gel electrophoresis are used to compared genes (SNPs) of suspects with those from the crime scene to convict criminals.

In agriculture genes for tolerance to diseases  and droughts have been incorporated in food crops to help improve yield even in  harsh environs.

Genetics has contributed to scientific research because it has allowed humans to map their genome and enabled them to understand how genes are expressed and how this shows in their phenotype.

Use the example of DDT to explain how a pesticide can bioamplify and damage entire ecosystems
Marysya12 [62]
DDT was used to control the malaria-causing mosquitoes. DDT killed them but accumulated in the soil also, through which entered animals and humans via food. There, it gets stored in the fat tissue and is very difficult to breakdown. The predator animals, feeding upon smaller animals, got DDT in their bodies from the smaller animals and DDT thus, magnified to the top level of the food chain. The government realized this and banned DDT.
