<h3>Answer: C) x = 13</h3>

====================================================

Work Shown:

We have a right triangle with legs a = 5 and b = 12. The hypotenuse is c = x which is unknown for now.

Use the pythagorean theorem to find x.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

5^2 + 12^2 = x^2

25 + 144 = x^2

169 = x^2

x^2 = 169

x = sqrt(169)  .... apply the square root to both sides

x = 13

I do not understand how you can do this without more information.
Nadusha1986 [10]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

I think you are correct. The bottom of the drawing has to have a width or someway of finding it. Also the breakup of the height needs some sort of clue where that breakup occurs.  I think you likely have to ask your instructor.

The solid was created by connecting two congruent square pyramids to a rectangular prism.
AnnyKZ [126]

Answer:

  1920 square inches

Step-by-step explanation:

For a rectangular prism, the lateral area can be found by ...

  LA = Pl

where P is the perimeter, and l is the length.

For a square pyramid, the lateral area can be found by ...

  LA = (1/2)Ph

where P is the perimeter of the base, and h is the slant height of the triangular faces.

For a figure with a square cross section of perimeter P "capped" by square pyramids on either end, the total surface area is the sum of the lateral areas of the three components:

  SA = (Pl) + (1/2)Ph + (1/2)Ph

  SA = P(l+h) = (4×15 in)(14 +18 in) = (60)(32) in²

  SA = 1920 in²

The surface area of the solid seems to be 1920 square inches.

<em>Caveat</em>

If the figure is something other than what we have tried to describe, your mileage may vary. A diagram would be helpful.

Find the solution to the system of equations x = -6 + 2y and x = 2y + 2.
andrew-mc [135]

x=-6+2y

x=2+2y

by subtraction

___________________________

x=-8

Substitute x by one of the two equations :

x=-6+2y

-8=-6+2y

2y=-8+6

2y=-2

y=-2/2

y=-1

I think this is the answer

A 4500 kg vehicle and a 3700kg vehicle are both moving at a speed of 85m/s toward east.Calculate the momentum of each veheicle?
lana [24]
The momentum formula is
p = m*v

where,
p = momentum (not sure why p is chosen but many physics books tend to pick this letter)
m = mass in kilograms
v = velocity in meters per second

So let's calculate the momentum for the 4500 kg vehicle
p = m*v
p = 4500*85
p = 382500 kg m/s

And let's do the same for the 3700 kg vehicle
p = m*v
p = 3700*85
p = 314500 kg m/s
