The polynomial is:
12 x³ - 6 x² + 8 x - 4
Lucas:
( 12 x³ + 8 x ) + ( - 6 x² - 4 ) = 4 x ( 3 x² + 2 ) - 2 ( 3 x² + 2 ) =
= ( 3 x² + 2 ) ( 4 x - 2 ) = 2 ( 3 x² + 2 ) ( 2 x - 1 )
Erick:
( 12 x³ - 6 x² ) + ( 8 x - 4 ) = 6 x² ( 2 x - 1 ) + 4 ( 2 x - 1 ) =
= ( 2 x - 1 ) ( 6 x² + 4 ) = 2 ( 3 x² + 2 ) ( 2 x - 1 )

Both students are correct because polynomials can be grouped in different ways to factor. Both ways result in a common binomial factor between the groups. Using the distributive property , this common binomial term can be factored out. Each grouping results in the same two binomial factors.

Why is the product of a rational number and an irrational number irrational?
tangare [24]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

When you multiply and irrational by a rational, you are doing nothing to change the nature of an irrational number. The two numbers have different kinds of properties and though a multiplication can be indicated, there is no way you can change the properties of an irrational number with a rational.

Their properties just do not mix.

It is like take a solvent and mixing it with something that is not a solvent. You cannot do anything to anything to the insolvent to make it solvent simply by adding more. Their properties remain in tact.

Take 3 * 4√7

The properties of the 3 and 4 remain the same when multiplied and they can be combined. 3*4 = 12

But nothing can be done with √7. The 3 cannot effect it, anymore than what the 4 did.

red roses cost $3 each . Pink roses cost $2 each . A man buys 24 flowers for his wife with some pink roses and the rest red rose
UNO [17]
Let the no. of red rose be R,
Let the no. of pink rose be P.
$3*R+$2*P = $68
R+P=24

R=24-P
3(24-P)+2P=68
72-3P+2P=68
P=4
R=20

Brianna and Ava go to the movie theater and purchase refreshments for their friends. Brianna spends a total of $39.00 on 2 bags
kirill [66]

Answer:

2p + 2d = 39 ____________(1)

8p + 10d = 174.50 _________(2)

Price of one drink is $9.25

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the price of a bag of popcorn be p.

Let the price of a drink be d.

Brianna spends a total of $39.00 on 2 bags of popcorn and 2 drinks. This implies that:

2p + 2d = 39 ____________(1)

Ava spends a total of $174.50 on 8 bags of popcorn and 10 drinks. This implies that:

8p + 10d = 174.50 _________(2)

We now have two system of equations which we can use to find the price of a bag of popcorn and drink:

2p + 2d = 39 ____________(1)

8p + 10d = 174.50 _________(2)

Multiply (1) by 4 subtract from (2):

8p + 10d = 174.50 _______(2)

- 8p + 8d = 156    __________(1)

        2d = 18.50

=>       d = $9.25

The price of one drink is $9.25

Rally sold 30 flower baskets at a market. She purchased 30 baskets for $142.65, 185 yards of ribbon for $.07 per yard, and $252.
rosijanka [135]

Answer:

She spent 142.65 for baskets, 252.50 for flowers and 185 * 0.07 or 12.95 for ribbons for a total outlay of 408.10. Since she made 30 baskets, that is 408.10/30 = 13.60 1/3 per basket.

If she sold all 30 for 25.99 each, that is 779.70 for a profit of 361.60

Step-by-step explanation:
