Answer:

f(x) should shifted Right by 4 units to obtain g(x) ⇒ B

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us put g(x) in the form of g(x) = (x - h)² + k, where h is the the horizontal shift (x - h) to right, (x + h) to left and k is the vertical shift (k) up and (-k) down

In the quadratic function y = ax² + bx + c, h = -\frac{b}{2a}  and k = y at x = h

∵ g(x) = x² - 8x + 1

∵ a is the coefficient of x² and b is the coefficient of x

∴ a = 1 and b = -8

∵ h = -\frac{b}{2a}

∴ h = -\frac{-8}{2(1)}=\frac{8}{2}

∴ h = 4

∵ k = g(x) at x = h

- Substitute x by 4 in g(x) to find k

∴ k = (4)² - 8(4) + 1 = 16 - 32 + 1

∴ k = -15

- Substitute them in the form of g(x) = (x - h)² + k

∴ g(x) = (x - 4)² + (-15)

∵ h is the horizontal shift

∵ (x - h) means shift to right h units

∵ f(x) = x²

∵ g(x) = (x - 4)² + (-15)

- That means f(x) is shifted 4 units to the right

∴ f(x) should shifted right by 4 units to obtain g(x)

True or false: When a figure on a coordinate grid is translated down and to the right, the vertex with the largest y-coordinate
Montano1993 [528]

Answer:

  • True

Step-by-step explanation:

Translation down and to the right doesn't change the dimensions of the original figure.

This will change coordinates of each vertex but the highest coordinates of the pre-image and image will correspond to each other.

Angle a and b are supplementary angles. If m a = (x – 40)0 and m b = (x + 20)0, find the value of x, m a and m b
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

∠ a = 60° , ∠ b = 120°

Step-by-step explanation:

Supplementary angles sum to 180° then

x - 40 + x + 20 = 180 , that is

2x - 20 = 180 ( add 20 to both sides )

2x = 200 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 100

Then

∠ a = x - 40 = 100 - 40 = 60°

∠ b = x + 20 = 100 + 20 = 120°

7. 250%

8. 400%

9. 667%

10. 769%

11. 263%

12. 125%

13. 137%

14. 526%

Step-by-step explanation:

divide the first number by the second number, then multiply that answer by 100

so kind of like: Number1 ÷ Number2 = x

then you do x × 100

and that's your answer
