The setting of adventures of huckleberry finn is revolved around the places near the Mississippi river in late 1800s. It is very common to spot many racial slur for African Americans in the story, which is typically used in southern states during that era.

In the story, it is mentioned that huckleberry Finn received constant physical abuse from his father. Especially when the father found out that Huckleberry Finn wanted to learn to read and write in order to pursue further education for himself.
